Hypothetical air travel question-- JFK airport

Hi everyone!

I have a hypothetical (as in I haven't bought the ticket but, oh yes, I will) question regarding changing terminals in JFK.

Say you had to get from Delta to United and had one hour and 55 minutes to do it, could you? Would it be a royal pain as it is in many airports-- you know, out and then through security again?

I've never had to change terminals there, and it's always busy enough that I'd be afraid of missing a flight. What do you think?

I'll be interested in the answer as well - I just looked at the same flight for my trip to Denver in June :)

I did find a great flight (didn't book it yet) on Orbitz on AA going Den-Mia-Stt leaving Den at 8:30am with a 2 hour layover in Mia arriving at 7:10pm in STT - not too bad :)

If you use Orbitz don't forget you can "mix and match" outgoing and return flights and not just choose the options they give you which are not always the best times and when you mix and match the price is usually the same :) (You probably knew this but I thought there maybe some reading that didn't :) )

Thanks, SJ.
So you think it can be done? I would be going carry on only. I don't know JFK so it scares me a little- Do you know if I would be taking a tram or bus between terminals?

Thanks.

Pia- Yipppee! :)

There is a pretty new monorail/light rail system at JFK. Ive never taken it, but they do have a website worth chekcing out for information.
here's the link http://www.panynj.gov/airtrain/

The monorail system at JFK works very well (not overly complicated). Checking in at AA terminal 9 (for some reason I remember it as being terminal eight) is pretty easy and not at all congested. Even the customs part went by fairly quickly. Although BDL is a closer airport for us, we usually use JFK to get the direct flight. Good luck. Ali~

Thanks for the help, all. I'm still not sure if I should do it, but we'll see. More than saving money, though that is helpful, I was thinking of saving connections. It would sure be nice to have one instead of four. :)

Thanks again!
