In addition to the Tahiti Open, there is also a benefit for Island Blues bartender Kenny Quinn this Sunday February 10th. Kenny recently suffered a stroke and is recuperating in Puerto Rico. His friends at Island Blues are trying to raise some funds to help with medical bills. If you are on St. John, stop by after The Tahiti Open. There will be live music all day. Telephone 340-776-6800

If you wish to contribute to this cause, send checks made out to "Island Blues" marked "For Kenefit" To:
Island Blues
16180 Spring Garden
St. John, VI 00830

Does anyone have any pictures of Kenny that they can post here?

Anybody that ever hears ol' Kenny's laugh at Blues never forgets it! A great guy and a classic example of the character of Coral Bay. One of the great things about that communnity is the way that they rally to help in situations like these. I don't know Kenny's health insurance situation, but most of the service people working the watering holes down there can't afford it. Mrs. JT & I will help a little bit, in addition to hopes and prayers for a full and speedy recovery for Kenny.
Barr at Syzygy Gallery said she is going to donate some nice art piece for one of the raffle prizes.

[BTW-Syzygy Gallery has moved from the back of the Skinny Legs complex over to the Cocolobo center overlooking Aqua Bistro.

When I saw "Kenefit" in the subject line, I thought "how cool -- Kenny Chesney is playing at a benefit for a STJ local." I think he should!

Okay, Folks, Guilty for trying to keep this post on the front page of the forum, but from what I'm hearing, this guy could really use any help from wherever it comes from. STJ Ruth, I'm going to shamelessly do a name drop, only because you brought it up on this board, but if Ruth is making an acknowledgement to the request for help, it really is a legit cry for help. Kenny is a terrific guy whose luck has suddenly headed south.
Ok, he's lived on-island for a long time, serving folks drinks, with a smile, at Island Blues, admittedly a pretty good gig.
He'd never ask for our charity, though he really could use it now. A couple of bucks would go a long way. Shameless ain't I?
'nuff said. JT

Ruth,
You may know..........are money orders better to send then checks? Will checks take to long to clear.
I forgot how long stateside checks take.
I am sending out something this week and just wondered.
I keep prayers for IB Kenny..........he was one of the first people to befriend me when I moved on island.

Banker here...to answer the personal check vs. cashiers/money order question. Either one is fine. My best advise is a personal check though. Clearing checks is short these days so funds to the account will be available quickly no matter what.

it doesn't matter which kind. I will take as much as two to three weeks for anyone of them to clear. Sad to say.
