Concerned about construction!

I've been reading about these big developments ie sirenusa. I'm concerned that our villa is on top of one of these. When we booked last year I was told no construction going on. Now told there is some 500 yds away but recently it was shut down because of $$ or permits or something.

First - can anyone tell me where the big developments are (which road so I can look the roads up on Google)?

And I've asked before but you never know if someone will know....can anyone tell me where a house called "Simply Paradise" is....it is supposed to be near the Chocolate Hole area.

We will be on the island in a month.

Hope someone can help - thanks

Given that you will be here in a month, already have the villa booked, you need to approach island construction the same way you should approach the weather here. Some days there will be some some days there won't, there isn't a lot you can do about either one so enjoy your trip and if all else fails drink more rum.:)

ak,

looks like from view pic of your villa, you'll be on eastern end of maria bluff peninsular and the water is the eastern end (beach) of chocolate hole harbor. on google maps go coord 18 19 3.7N 64 47 3W and you'll be in the green area at end of harbor. i was there in dec and whole area had been cleared and limited earth moving equipment still working. not a lot of noise but a real blight on a previuosly natural area. construction access was from choc hole east rd which will be beyond your rd, perhaps maria bluff rd.

that development maybe "palm bay" not sure of name but will be big and i feel for those who have villas close to chocolate hole that overlook that site. oh the price paradise must pay for success.

to be honest though the unsightly excuvation was easy to ignore in the grandure of so much natural beauty on stj. you'll see it only in the mornings before living and the afternoons before dark. after dark actually gives an interesting "black hole" in the mist of all the villa lights. enjoy your st john and her grand views and ignore that site like you'll learn to do of the drive from cruz bay to your villa, not pretty.

Thanks papabou

That information is exactly what I needed. Obviously there is nothing I can do about it or where we are staying at this point but I am a person that would rather know what to exactly then be in la-la land arrive and be disappointed/mad whatever. I think I can deal with a clearing and some earth moving equipment more than banging/sawing/drilling/pounding the earth. Cannot wait for some warmth and sun - it has been about 0-10 here for a couple of weeks.
