A friend got a new comp. Down loaded the I tunes software but it won't see the I pod when you plug it in can plug it into the old comp and everything is fine So do I have to do something different to make it see it

Tom,
I don't know if this is the same problem or not, but I got a new (first) ipod for Christmas and had the same problem. I called Apple and was on the phone for a long time. What we did is, download Itunes directly from the apple.com website instead of from the itunes webpage. Re-boot the computer and then it was recognized. I guess the new software is creating problems for alot of people. Might help....!
