How to come from STX to STJ?

Some of our friends are going to STX in 3 weeks and will stay on Buccaneer. I have told so much about STJ, so now they want to use one day for at visit. But if the only way to come there is with the plane or the seaplane to STT, it's too much money to spend for a few hours stay on STJ.
Does anybody know, if there at this time is a ferry running from STX to STJ?
Other ideas?

A day trip to STJ from STX is really not doable. The sea plane is very expensive and takes you from STX to STT and then you'd have to take a taxi from Charlotte Amalia to STJ which would be an additional expense and take additional time. I'm afraid there is just not enough time for your friends to include St. John in their holiday.

Linne - I've heard there is a ferry between STX and STT, but I don't know if it's running these days. And even if it is, people have said it's a long and bumpy ride...not enjoyable at all.

I am pretty sure there is a ferry, but I hear it's quite a long process to get between islands and can't really be done in a day.

Thank you for your answers. I will show them to our friends, and I agree with you, it's not value for the money to do it.
