Right now Hartford to STT is $505 in June. Just received an email with deals if you fly by end of May, $286.
What do you think the chances are that the June flights will drop in a few more weeks? I know it is always a crapshoot, but maybe someone has a crystal ball

Won't happen, the kids start getting out of school in June and the airfares hit the hockey stick curve!
I've paid $750 per for DC to STT before.
Cheers, RickG

My crystal ball is consistantly on the fritz.
I get a $ figure in my head, and buy the tickets when I feel comfortable with the price and schedule. If they go lower, so be it. We cannot do last minute travel anyway. Just my 2 cents.

I am such a planner that it is killing me to not book but this is my birthday gift and Chip thinks we should wait. I just want to be booked.

I'm right there with you XGirl...we haven't booked our air for June either and it is killing me!!! We have always taken the one non-stop on US Scare, but this year it is not offered on sunday ( our day of departure). Our next choice is an American flight that stops in San Juan, but we don't have to change planes. That sounds like the next best thing. that rounds out to being $398 plus tax = $467 . I keep checking the number of seats left. Don't ask me what I'm waiting for...maybe a big sale or for USAir to say " hey, lets add that non-stop from Philly to STT".
I will rest easy when we all have our assigned seats!!!

X: airfare out of Bradley for only $286.00, tell me more! I just booked for November and the fare on AA with taxes, etc. were close to $600.00. Fortunately I had miles for that. We usually go direct from JFK for on AA for about $300.00. Wow, $286.00 is an awesome deal! Maybe I should plan another trip. Ali~

Orbitz is showing a $297.00 fare but I can't get it to work for any dates.

I say book it, because you know there are others who are saying "That's a good price! I'm booking!" and you're waiting...and then all seats are gone. Lock it in and then you don't have to worry about it. I booked our flights as soon as the airline would allow. Got the best times, best seats, and a really good price. Didn't feel like playing the price game and possibly getting locked out, or stuck landing in STT late. Anyway...my $0.02. good luck!

Some airlines will issue vouchers for the price difference if the fares are reduced after you buy tickets - even on nonrefundable tickets.
But you have to ask for them.
There are some tracker programs (Yapta is the one I use) that will let you put in the dates and flight numbers and will notify you any time the prices change (either up or down).

I wonder why the flight from ATL is so high- if you all are coming farther and it's MUCH less -any ideas- we are on delta-maybe that's why!!!

Hless-the Delta flight has great times and no stop in San Juan which I think adds to the draw and therefore adds to the price. We are doing Kansas City to STT with one stop in Atlanta for our next trip and we are picking up one person in Atlanta. She paid more for her ticket then we did. It's nuts!! There is no such thing as a cheap flight from the midwest unless you just get really lucky. We decided getting the flight we wanted at good times was worth it, so we booked!

Agree with the Atlanta/Delta comments; We are flying from central Florida to STJ via Delta. Sounds crazy, but those flights gave us an earlier arrival on STJ than if we flew out of either FLL or MIA, and factoring in the drive time to get to either of those two, we really won't be leaving the house any earlier.
We're trying to talk friends in Atlanta into coming to STJ with us, so I ckecked on ticket prices for the ATL to STT leg yesterday and they were $520!

I bought my tix for first week in November back on 1/4/08 (DC to STT) for $342 including taxes and the same flight is now up to $402. Im glad I did not wait. I got the times and seats I wanted.
