It's closed for good. There was an article a few months ago in the paper referenced on this board.

Sounds like their business plan did not grasp how bad business was down there in the low season. Couldn't make it work financially.

But they made it through 2 or maybe 3 'low seasons.' I think it was because they lost Ted.

BTW, any feedback from those who have been to St. John recently re: how Ted's offerings at the Starfish Market Deli have been? Good? Reasonably, or at least rationally, priced?

How about feedback from any who may have used Ted for his private-dining catering service in your villa??

Pmak, he also has his own business now as a private chef. We're going to use him in February - can't wait! Here is his website http://www.tedssupperclub.com/

Not with that owner - Ted came and went from Tage more than once I believe.

Ted is making several different sandwiches at the deli at Starfish Market, and they're pretty good and decently priced (for St. John) as well. They're not your typical "deli sandwiches" either...he makes things like a mahi sandwich, maple bourbon glazed sirloin wrap and a grilled veggie focaccia. Priced from $4.95 to $8.95!

lucky you NancyB!

We wanted to do the in-house dinner thing but 8 people wanted 8 different things so we shelved the idea for this trip.

Ted is a great chef indeed. Having worked with him definitely expanded my culinary knowledge, especially since I never attended cooking school.

Please keep us in mind for any future catering needs to St. John.

For thoses of you who do not know Mathayom he is a fabulous chef/caterer. He catered our wedding and our guests still talk about his food :)

So, if you are planning a wedding/private chef for a special dinner in villa or even "drop off" provisioning service, you will be blown away by Mathayom - a true expert in his field.
