On the heals of California Girl's ultra-successful and still thriving "Favorite VI Picture" forum topic we have a new forum topic:

What is your must-have (don't leave the mainland without it) villa music CD?

Ours is "a twist of marley", an excellent tribute to Bob Marley with 13 of his songs redone in a jazz style by various artist. Some of the song are just instrumentals. Perfect for that Sunday brunch at the villa or as the evening winds down.

Don't know the CD name, but it is a Norah Jones, and favorite song, "Come Away with Me"

I am humming it right now and wishing!

I will be working on a few mix CDs but I am having a hard time coming up with a mix that will make the 6 of us happy.

We like most everything but I love country

One couple is mixed- she likes club music and he liked oldies

the 3rd couple likes classic rock.

Any thoughts?

Bob & Anita, I also have "A Twist of Marley", it's great! I have "A Twist of Jobim", too. Also great.

And how could I not take my most recent constant companion? "Be As You Are" by Kenny Chesney.

Buffett music of course! Although, we met a local fellow by the name of Victor Hall who works at the gas station in Coral Bay. He has a collection of CD's that he recorded. We bought a couple of them from him. The one we like is "1000 Miles Away." He had a lot of interesting stories to share and we wished we had met him earlier in our trip. After we left, we wished we had bought his Christmas CD.

Well.....I may be in the minority here, but I can not stand Jimmy Buffett. In fact, I would go so far as to say that I cringe when I hear his music.
It all stems from former neighbors( on St John) that played nothing but Buffett 24 hours a day. They worked odd shifts and literally the music started at 6 am and went until about 3 am.

Absolutely, we have 4 or 5 Inner Vissions CDs and they get a workout. We also like to bring a good mix of calypso, Jamaican dance hall, Sean Paul and Lucky Dube. Seddy over on JVD at One Love Bar introduced us to Lucky Dube when we stayed there in 2004 - a nice reggae groove.

Then, for that late night glass of Mount Gay Extra Old, staring at the stars, Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here."

Nora Jones? It is STILL astonishing to me that her record won the Grammy in ’02 instead of Bruce Springsteen’s "The Rising," an album that explores tragedy of 9/11, but is also, as its title suggests, is about rebirth - the rebirth of hope, with many of the songs holding out a hand to those who mourn the courageous and innocent and who seek the comfort of an explanation for the inexplicable. Still gives me chills when I listen to it.
