"Honeymoon Cottage" Francis Bay

Staying in Catherineberg next week, then when our group leaves, my husband and I are staying on, but currently don't have a place to stay.

I am considering "Honeymoon Cottage" on Francis Bay. There's a review on this site from 3 or 4 years ago, and just wondering if the reviewer still reads this board?

I'm concerned about all the woods around the house-- does anyone know if there's a breeze up there? Is it buggy? The place has AC but we prefer to let breezes come in through the screens.

Thanks for any info anyone has.

We stayed in The Cottage in 2004 and after its remodeling to The Honeymoon Cottage in 2005.

The Francis Bay area tends to be buggy, probably cause of its low lying marshes.

However The Honeymoon Cottage is situated at the bottom of a "saddle" between St. John "mainland" and Mary Point, which acts as a funnel for breezes. Most of the time there was a steady breeze which blew th bugs away. However on our final day there, the breeze had died and it became buggy.

Actuallly, after many years of returning to Francis Bay, we finally discovered that we were getting most of our bug bites while sitting on the beach/under the trees. We started spending our time at the beach in the water, and getting our suntans laying on the deck of The Honeymoon Cottage. Much less buggy there.
