So just where are you supposed to find deoderant in a 3 ounce container? Has anyone had aerosol cans confiscated? The rest I think we can manage....seems stupid to have to transfer things like suntan lotion into 3 oz. packages.
Life is good though.....counting down with 86 to go.

Wal-Mars carries travel size solid deoderants (speed-stick and the like) but I am not sure of the size, rather small.

Search for a site called Easy Traveler Inc. They make a cool transfer kit to bring along everything you normally use everyday. It helps out a bunch to bring your own items rather than try to search for small 3oz. containers of everything.

I got a small stick of secret at Target that I was able to pack in my carry-on. I am sure they'd have travel sizes of spray deodorant too.

Go to Target or any drug store and look in the "sample" aisle for toiletries. There are small containers for everything with less than three ounces. Also, you could just buy some once you get to the island. That's what we do with sunscreen.

A warning about transfering your products in 3 ounce unmarked containers. I read a story that security may not allow it if they can not identitfy your products by labels and packaging. Not all airports are created equal in how they manage liquids. To be on the safe side go and buy travel size shampoos and other stuff you might need at a drug store, or wait and buy on the Island. I found travel size deodorant at CVS if that helps.
Also I found travel size anti itch benadryl jel, made by Bandaid brand. which I used every day when I got attacked by no seeums. Works great.

Bed Bath and Beyond near us has a huge section of travel sized items. I usually pick up everything there.

I travel every week and I've gone through dozens of airports. AFTER THE FIRST WEEK , I never had a problem with solid deoderant. I carry it in the suitcase - not the one-quart bag. Roll-ons and aeresols are another story.

I have never been questioned about the unmarked containers. The explanation I got was that TSA does not believe that someone can assemble a dangerous object when limited to 3 oz. containers and an agregate volume of one quart minus the space taken up by the 3 oz. containers.

The week that these rules were applied resulted in agents treating it as a blank check to take anything they wanted. I did have solid deoderant confiscated that week.

My daughter said she found one of those regulation size clear travel bags, with assorted bottles, right at CVS.

Leaving next week and going for a while... was determined to travel light, but 3 ounces isn't very much .

Buy a "solid" deodorant, it is allowed in any size.

Per Southwest.com - "...and solid cosmetics as well as personal hygiene items (such as lipstick, solid deodorant, lip balm and items of similar consistency) continued to be allowed through the security checkpoint."

Jay and I did "carry on" only on our last trip. We each had our quart bag filled with 3oz containers. I bought the containers at Wal-mart and transferred several things and marked the outside of the bottle and nothing was confiscated. Solid deodorant of any size is ok and doesn't have to go in the quart bag; only liquids and gels. I also had aerosol cans outside of the quart bag and they were not confiscated. It was kinda a pain transferring everything and then when going through security you have to take out your quart bag and put through the scanner separate from your carry on. But, overall, I liked doing the carry on only trip.

Wow, that Easy Traveler site looks like just the ticket. American ingenuity, huh?

There is ton of information on the web regarding unmarked bottles. I looked it up before my trip in Dec. From what I read, it happens more in Europe than the states, but it only takes on security person who is not informed or does not care to take everything away and throw it in the trash.
This has not happened to me, so I was only trying to help when I wrote to be careful about unmarked containers.
