A slight chance for a last minute vacation to St John

OK,
So I am trying to see if I can find a really really cheap place to stay Jan 26-Feb 2 for Hubby & I, within walking distance to town & surpise him.
We have plans to go to Mexico, since we knew we couldn't hold out until our May trip to the Island, then I saw the mention of Samuels Cottages & thought

why not. The flight is reasonable & if I can get a place to rest my head, then why not go for it.
I have a call & an email into Samuels & am sitting on pins & needles waiting for a reply, any other idea's, other than camping..... sorry not my style, embarrased to say I would rather go to Mexico.
I remember a small place in town, it was a greeny/bluey colour, but can't remember the name, almost like a little hotel or B & B.
Cross your fingers, I get to pull this off, without telling Larry, he will be sooooooooooooooooo happppppppppy
Thanks

I hope it works out for you!
Have you looked into the Inn at Tamarind Court? That's right in town too, and not too expensive.

Here is a good list of Cruz bay small villas and apartments.

I believe Garden by the Sea is the B&B you are thinking of.

Cinnamon Bay was surprisingly "not camping"....even more so if you don't have kids and don't "have to"c ook. They have a mini fridge now and a coffee maker too! Electricity and beds/linens. RIGHT on the beach. Taxis come and go from there regularly, AND they have a restaurant and store there as well You could do well there...specially if you don't have to cook!

Is this the place you're thinking of - it is the St. John Inn -
We stayed there for a few days in 2000. At the time the rooms had California names, all done in Ralph Lauren. From the descriptions, I think we were in the Solomon room. It was a perfect home base - room was clean and had a fridge. There was a narrow porch with a couple of stools for sunset watching. There is a tiny pool, but we never used it; they also had an area with a TV and honor bar. Fairly easy walk up the hill to town - I think the hill is less steep than the hill to Bougainvillea or maybe I was just younger and in better shape back in 2000.
What a great present for Larry!

For Tamarind Court, get a room that faces the Courtyard. The construction trucks show up at 0630 for doughnuts at the bakery.
After recent reviews, I think Samuels Cottages looks like a steel.
P.S. You suck. I'm jealous, we have to wait until March.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I spoke to the person at Samuel & they are all booked, but at that price I am not surprised. Still working on a few others.
Does anyone know where Gardinia by Cloud Nine is???? They seem to feel it is not safe for walking, but we won't do the car thingy.....
RICK, How can you be jealous, you were just there'''''' & will be there again before us in May...........LOL.....
Will let you know how I make out. They don't call me the Shopper for nothing
Wish you & your family's a Healthy & Wealthy

( so we can all go back more often
Happy Holidays to All

Don't know if you've decided on a place, but I think this one is available thru Carefree

I have stayed at Gardenia and you can't walk to town from there - it is past the Westin, no street lights and would take probably a good 40 mins by foot at least (you have to go up Jacobs Ladder for one and a few more "hills"
)
Sorry

Here is a link to a property in Cruz Bay but unfortunatley it is no longer managed by Caribbean Villas as it states the property is not found. Maybe you could call them and find out who is now managing it ?????
I just saw it somewhere with a new link but like a dummy I forgot to bookmark it....duh.
I have not seen it in person so I can't say one way or another but it looks nice, although it maybe alittle loud - it's in the area around Chilly Billy's I think.
If I find the link tomorrow I'll post it.

I meant to post this as well. It is above the Beach Bar so it will probably be noisy but hey - easy "stumble" home
I don't know if it's available as they don't show a calendar (I hate that) so I would call them directly to find out and not wait for them to answer an email - especially over the holidays.

Canadian Ruth,
Is there an apartment behind Woody's? That would cut down on that long walk.
Good luck looking. We're reading forum posts out loud as we make sausage and get ready to fire up the pizza oven. It's great to hear your voice online. Say hi to your guy from us.
P.S. You still suck.
