Are these lodgings adequate and safe? Good view? Walking distance to Cruz Bay?

Hi,

Parafins stayed there in July - do a search on the user name and you'll find the trip report - good review.

Also - try searching for Samuel and Cottages and you'll find some other reviews and links.

have fun,

Yes, we have stayed there on a few occasions. The people are wonderful and very helpful but also give you privacy. I never once had a worry about safety- but then again we are almost always back at the cabins before midnight! The cabins are clean and simply decorated. They remind me of Minnesota fishing cabins- rustic, not at all fancy. They are a great deal if you do not care about a fabulous view and living like a millionaire for the week. It is an easy walk down the hill to Cruz Bay but remember what goes down must come up! I would stay there again.

Did someone call me?? Hello there....Yes I did stay at Samuel Cottages back in July.Loved it!We even had a ocean view.We stayed at cottage #2.We did have a electric line in some of the view, but hey-the price was right. The pic that i'm posting is cottage #2 and #3 to the right. Now remember cottage is a good word for it.It is not a luxury place, but it is clean and I never did see a bug, only cats :D I realy like the owners and the location was good.Using the oven in July wasn't a good idea though,it heated the place up.It does have air in the bedroom. When we wanted a pool we drove to the Westin.Cottage#3 has the best view.Merry Christmas!Parafins Image

Parafins -

How were you able to use the Westin pool? Can you use it if you are eating (or drinking) there or something? In general, I'm not a huge stickler for rules but I also don't like to get kicked out of places either.

I remember that photo. That's the hideous Sirenusa monstrosity looming in the background. Used to just be a hillside. Some saw that hill and thought "underutilized space".

You are absolutely RIGHT Lex! Sirenusa is wholly out of step with St. John's style.
Sirenusa and Grand Bay condos are nothing but concrete monstrosities.
