Last Day: Long Walk Home

and boy was it long. We were just getting ready to leave our villa around 9am Sunday morning when Charlie said to me "what does this mean?" He had been checking on our flight on his phone and he showed me where it said "estimated time of deaprture 7:20 pm". It was supposed to leave at 4:00pm
I called the airline and found out there were mechanical problems with the plane coming to STT. Great.
At that point the car was packed so there was no last minute beaching to be done. We just weren't in the right frame of mind. We did decide to take a later ferry though which left ample time for brunch at Sun Dog.
We left the villa, dropped our stuff at the ferry dock and drove over to Mongoose where Charlie continued to make sure the flight was still delayed
and we enjoyed mimosa's, salmon eggs benedict and the special puff pastry of the day.

After brunch we returned the car and headed toward the ferry. Said our goodbye's to Slimman and then headed up to say good bye to Ruth. She had been looking for us at the dock and thought she missed us. She loaded us up with some paper and cards to pass our time at the airport and we were off on the Noon ferry. It wasn't the way I wanted to end our vacation but what can you do. We made good use of our time there making phone calls and editing pictures
Oh and I had the good sense to get some sandwiches at Deli Grotto to have for dinner. We had those around 6pm in the airport. When we finally got to Philly I got off the plane and was heading to baggage when I looked up and who was right in front of me but Roger Clemens! It looked like his flight out was also delayed.
It was a great trip and I appreciate everyone here in helping me countdown. Lots of good things to remember from this trip, in no particular order, just some random thoughts:
- If you are getting in late having a water taxi waiting for you is key.
- having a jug of water in the car for sandy feet really comes in handy.
- St. John feels like home for us. I love the fact that there are people there that know we are coming and are glad to see us when we arrive. That makes it special.
- Ting and Orange Vodka is one of my new favorite beverages
-While I'm glad I went to Jost I really don't need to leave the island in the future. That's just me.
-if I ever stay at Villa Calarda I will be sure to note some sort of marker on the road so I can find my way back.
- I put out the sugar but no bananaquits came to see me
- I loved the location of our villa. I will look to return to this area some day.
-This was our second trip and I definitley felt more "villa gravity" setting in this time. I'm ok with that!
-Funny that you can see one person on the island and then keep bumping in to them everywhere but the person you are looking for (Wontogirl) never crosses your path.
I'm sure there are other things but they don't come to mind right now. So, good bye St. John. We will be back.
