Having a very bad week-- need a forum warm fuzzy!

Hi guys,
I need a little help here. Suffice to say I am having a REALLY bad week. Nothing life threatening, but DAMN. I am continually amazed how downright mean and selfish people can be at the expense of others.
I keep trying to focus on our upcoming trip, but for some reason just cannot get past the issues I have had to cope with this week -- emotionally, when it rains, it pours! I just can't seem to pull it together today and to stop being upset.
So anyway, I am in desperate need of a Forum "group hug."
I know I'm not getting shot at and I'm not facing anything life threateening here, but sometimes the awfulness of things going on around me can really get to me.
Anyone else have any advice for how they cope when they are having a downright, no good, awful, terrible, nasty day?

BOO! Ok well....... deep breaths. Throw yourself at the work and forget about all of them! Seriously, I just don't get half the people that I encounter on a daily basis! I guess they don't get me either

I hope it gets better for you!

Aww ((((((((((((((((Gromit)))))))))))))))))))))))))
Hope you're feeling better.
I know how some little things just hit harder than others. Funny place the mind!
Here you go, a little joke:
A man went to visit a friend and was amazed to find him playing chess with his dog. He watched the game in astonishment for a while. "I can hardly believe my eyes!" he exclaimed. "That's the smartest dog I've ever seen."
"Nah, he's not so smart," the friend replied. "I've beaten him three games out of five."

Remember you can't change people you can only change how you deal with them. If you are getting upset it is because you are allowing another person to affect you in that way. Stop allowing it and get on with your life. If they don't like it -tough patooties! Just Smile and take it in stride. Things could always be much worse! As they say in Life of Brian "Always look on the bright side of life"!

After a terrible week, I head to the liquor cabinet and pur myself a Cruzan dark and diet, settle on the couch with my laptop and read every VI trip report that I can find. Reports that are years old or reports I have already read.
Then I do a search on STJ pictures, start looking at restaurant menus, anything that will take my mind off the issues.

What X said - and keep repeating the mantra "22 days, 22 days, 22 days".
I hope the weekend brightens things up for you - even rude and selfish people can have their attitude improved sometimes!

Hey Gromit – your ole bud FlaGeorge here.
Sometimes life can be hard – real hard, and things seem to pile up on you. After all that we’ve been through this past year – I’ve learned to dig deep down into myself to find the energy and faith to overcome my obstacles. A friend of mine told me that God will only give you what you can handle. I can tell you that I have asked God many times to quit giving – but I always seem to find the strength to carry on.
You are not alone on this – some more then others have a rougher time. But that doesn’t mean that your personal situation is any less rough. Your good people Gromit and I am so very happy that our paths have crossed. You hang in there and feel free to email or call me if you need an ear.
Take care and here is a big squishy hug.

Grommit - Obviously, I don't know you very well, but we all go through tough times. Sometime it's work, sometime it's people, and sometime it's family-type people. But, it always gets better if you can just get through it and think of the light at the end of the tunnel. I always try to remember that what doesn't kill me, will make me stronger. Keeping a sense of humor helps, too.
So, in an effort to promote humor, here's my joke of the day. Hope it gives you a little chuckle.
A couple are getting ready to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The wife tells him, "Honey, why don't we go back to the same hotel we stayed at for our honeymoon? Don't you think that would be romantic?" The husband replies, "Yea. Except this time, I'll sit at the end of the bed, crying 'It's too big!'"

Gromit, maybe you are just suffering from Flip-Flop withdrawals!

Seriously, if you recall, I had similar issues back in the spring, to the point that I nearly came undone. I learned (the hard way) to just kill people with kindness and don't let their ugliness affect you. Also, a few drinks with some girlfriends followed by a little shopping trip can cure just about anything!!
Sending good thoughts your way, girl!

Wow, Gromit! You have some excellent Forum friends and some awesome advice in this thread. Focus on all the positive things in your life, don't let the negative people get you down and all will be okay.
Hope things get better for you. Try to enjoy the weekend!
Go to your happy place!!!

When things get bad at work or home my mind just drifts away like a sailboat to S.T.J.!{And with 3 kids in my house it slips away ALOT!!} In the morning when I want a little reminder of paradise I just add a splash of rum to my orange juice! It helps!

Remember,"Go to your happy place" Parafins
