Hi guys,

I had to finally come out and ask -- is there anyone out there who puts down on STT for her or his tropical holidays?

I am not sure I understand the question - can you clarify?

You mean staying on St Thomas for vacation?

Mrs B and I stayed at The Wyndam a few years back and did the all-inclusive. It was very nice and we had a great time! Very close to Red Hook for ferry to STJ and The BVI's, and also close to Coki....what we felt was the best beach on STT. Huge pool. decent food. GREAT batrenders, and a small video casino room.

After making the trek all the way from AZ, i like to spend 1 wk on STT and 1 on STJ. The BVI or STX may be in the mix for 2008. I'm finding that after visiting the islands for 25 years, STJ is just getting too pricey for my wallet.

Hi Anthony,

What I mean is that most of the folks on this forum go to STJ for their vacations.

I was looking to see if there are people who read this forum whose destination is STT.

I'd really like to read about people's STT visits and plans in the friendly way the STJ share their plans and visits.

So, I was asking if any STT visitors (or residents!) are out there reading this forum, and wouldn't they join in, please?

Thanks!

Hi Waterguy, Lol, I'm sorry. It's "puts down" as "in lands" or short for "puts down their bags".

I hope that clears it up completely.

Hi SCat,

Are you looking for any place in particular, or just asking in general? We have stayed at Secret Harbour several times and really like the place. The best part is it is right on the beach. Great snorkeling or just limin.

Do you have some specific questions about STT? Be glad to answer what I can.

Yes, my husband and I have been going to STT for 10 years now and LOVE it! We have made many day trips to STJ and it is as beautiful as all of you say but we prefer STT. We stay at Bluebeards Castle but are in love with Sapphire Beach and Magen's Bay. In fact, our daughter just got married at Magen's Bay just a few weeks ago (October 23) and it was simply elegant!!! We also like to visit the Elysian and Bluebeards Beach Club. We are going down again in February. We are "hooked" on STT.

Hi Cat

Have been vacationing in STT for close to 30 years, and while I love to visit STJ we have never stayed there for even one night.

It is our preference to be right on the beach so we can have early morning beach walks, coffee on the beach, naps on the beach, drinks on the beach, evening beach walks, sunrise on the beach and sunsets on the beach. Do you get the point we like to be on the beach!

While there are a few places in STJ where you could do this ,they are very pricey, and most of the villas are high on the hills.

I think there is so much STJ interest on this board that ony a few STT's lurk or post here.

Hi CariBert,

Thanks, just looking for friends and contacts to share the STT experience with. In fact, my husband and I will be in STT in 13 days! Secret Harbor is lovely. It seemed very peaceful when we visited there. “Limin” I haven’t heard that word in a while!

Kma,

Congratulations on your daughter’s wedding. That must have been beautiful!

Beachboy,

We like the beach, too! I can sit at the seaside happily all day. After 30 years you must have gotten the shopping bug out of you — I still enjoy going to town and doing that, but then I can’t wait to be back at the beach! Do you dive?

My shopping bug was killed by large doses of Cruzan taken internally and with great frequency.

Over the years I have done a lot of snorkeling and diving. My favorite dives are night dives, and a night dive at Coki is an unforgettable experience. Although I don't know if any of the dive companies go there at night, because at night it isn't the safest location.

One thing that makes me sad is the changes I have seen in the reefs over the years. I often go back to a former favorite spot and the coral and sea life is pretty much destroyed. I wish there were a simple way to reverse this destruction.

Cat,
Deb and I will be there a few days after you arrive. I love both islands. Yes there is a differnt vibe on either island but both are a blast. We spent last thanksgiving on St Thomas then a week in Feb on St John. I also love to charter in the BVI's as well. We are staying in Red Hook this time at Sapphire. You all will have to come over and have a drink at happy hour. We also are going to try to make it over to St John on the sunday after thanksgiving for the beach bar get together.

We have been going to STT for years as well. Believe it or not where we stay at Blue Beard's Beach Club we have found it to be much queiter than when we stayed on St. John. That being said we did stay in Cruz Bay and there was a speed boat owner revving his engine about 2am. We like STT as a jumping point. We always visit St. John and the BVI, but I love the people of STT. I wouldn't want to miss Glady's for lunch and the Old Stone Farm House or Room with a View for dinner. Coki on a Sunday is such a neat place to visit because many of the locals and their families are there. Mafolie for the view. I believe that each island has its own unique offerings.
