HELP from Dc with ticket prices!

We are planning our trip to St. John for May '08. We were married at Cinnamon Bay by Ann-Marie in 2001, and just fell in love with the island. It is a beautiful, magical place that hubby and I plan to share with two newcomers. We have been long time lurkers and have learned such an incredible amount of information. Anyways, 3 of us will be flying from the DC area and 1 will be flying from Nashville. I was looking at tickets for the DC crew and found them from American for $352. Is this a good deal or would we be better off waiting a while? Travel veterans-please help. Thanks in advance-Jen

I think that is an excellent price
I am trying to fly back to the states (Kansas City then onto Minneapolis) and I can't find it for less than $1,400
)
Personally, anything under $500 to me, is a bargain

I paid $404 from Nashville in October. Like Pia, I am always happy when it's less than $500.
I did some sleuthing on kayak.com and I saw that Spirit and the other major carriers all have tickets for $352. That must be a good deal, since Spirit generally has the best prices until they run out of seats. (I'd fly another carrier though if I could get the same price. I'm not so much for "no-frill" carriers!)

Hi there. I bought tickets for the three of us a couple of months ago for $333 each on AA out of Dulles June 20 - 27. I decided to get these because it seemed reasonable. If they go down, oh well, I still stayed within my budget. Last June we paid a little over $500 pp on Delta.

It's an excellent price - go for it! Philly direct to St. John is over $700 for May '08. I'm holding out and would be thrilled with under $400.

If I could find prices like that for our May trip next year, I would be ecstatic. I say book them quick!
Pia, why does KC have to be so expensive
I can't find a truly decent flight for under 700. They are all weird times right now with several stops. I'm going to keep looking.

We are Staying at Eaglesnest. I think someone (Rick?) is there right now. I am looking forward to his trip report to find out how he enjoyed the villa. This will be our third trip-we went back for our five year anniversary- much older,wiser, and educated about the island. We also had a child by that time so our trip did not evolve around alcohol, although we still had our share

BUY BUY BUY!! It may be too late though since AA announced a bump of $20 eac on ticket prices due to rising fuel costs and other carriers are following suit.

I know you already bought, Jen (welcome by the way) but for future ref and for any other DC'ers, here's what I know.
I typically try to do FF miles, but often book for others coming along for the ride. The cheapest I've found period is $237. I think that was a freaky fluke for 1 person on AA leaving the Friday prior to Thanksgiving returning the day before Thanksgiving. When I saw that I pounced. I also paid $320 once for 1 ticket again but for an April trip.
The most I have ever paid is in the high 400's. Anything under $400 is a bargain to me. Under $500 is reasonable. More than that and I would wait.

Thanks again for all the helpful tips! The last two times we went my husband made the arrangements and probably spent too much- he is not as frugal as I am
