Hi everyone

I thought I would start a new topic (for those of you who are interested :) ) Thanks everyone for the good wishes.

Tiki was at the vet all day today. After bloodwork was done, and her liver and kidneys checked, they proceded with an endoscope followed by a barium :(

The results were that her stomach has all kinds of irregularities to it kind of ulcered - all wavy and crinkled instead of smooth. The barium started to travel the wrong way for a time but then passed through.

She is on medication now but the good news is that she drank today for the first time (still no food but thats OK for now)

Follow up on Wednesday.

Thanks again everyone.

Sorry I didn't make it to the BB yesterday - with Tiki and the weather just couldn't make it - I'll be there this Sunday if all goes well :)

It is so hard when you have a sick pet and they can't tell you what is wrong.

I am glad that Tiki is on the road to recovery.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery is going out from my puppies to yours!!

Don't you just love those Vet bills? We have health insurance on our Mastiff. Those poor insurance people lost their money on us. So far we've saved over $8,000.00 :!: Like I said, those poor insurance people

Thanks everyone - I wish we had insurance available to us down here but oh well you do what you have to - I wouldn't trade her (or her sister) for anything.

I'll post a picture (if I can figure out how to do it) of her when she is well.

Thanks again everyone

Great news, Pia. Thanks for the update and hang in there. That had to be kind of scary for a while.

I can empathize with you Pia as my 6 month old puppy had developed a case of domodectic mange a few weeks after I rescued her from a shelter. Every two weeks she has to be dipped in a toxic fluid and it really knocks the sh*t out of her; it is very sad. Unfortunately, there is no other way to cure this but the dips tend to suppress her immune system even more. I have been feeding her a diet of organic raw food, acidophilus supplements, small amt of cod liver oil, kelp, and some aloe vera juice in her food to help build up her immunity. Good news is that when she came back from her "dip" on Monday she had a lot more energy and her skin is beginning to look a little less red than normal. Poor doggie.

Puppies tend to be pretty resilient. Hopefully, Tiki will make a full recovery soon. Did they tell you what may have caused the ulcerations? Where did you get her from? What type of food was she fed or are you feeding her. Is it possible that something she ate is causing these ulcerations? Is it affecting her bowels? You may want to give her some aloe vera juice to reduce the inflammation in her intestine. It does wonders on the digestive tract.

Pia, hoping that your puppy continues to mend.

I had to put my cat to sleep yesterday. She was 16 and a good cat, but I couldn't see putting her through any more tests. It's heartbreaking for our family, but it definetly was time.

I wish you and your pup the best.

Pia- good to hear that they figured out the problem. I'm impressed that they have endoscopy there! You're very lucky (your checking account probably isn't though).

Remember that love and a positive attitude go a looooonnng way with dogs. They feed off of your emotions so stay as positive as possible!

Positive vibes coming Tiki's way>>>>>>~~~~~~

Connie - we just lost one of our 16 yr old cats too this past August. It's tough and I still miss my boy.
