Not sure if this is the right place to be posting this, being that almost all of the discussins here are St John related, but I'm going to give it a try.

We are looking to purchase a condominium somewhere in the Caribbean. St Thomas doesn't appeal and St John-Yeah right maybe if we win the lottery. Was puttsing around the computer and found quite a few affordable listings on St Croix in gated communities.

I know St Croix has had some crime issues publicized lately but also know how blown out of propotion these things can get. Have never been to St Croix but if this looks like an option for a purchase we might run over there while in St John in November.

Any opinions on St Croix as an investment/vacation destination?

Thanks.

Hi - Here's an interesting article on STX:

http://www.st-croix.net/stepchild/carnival.html

We were there for the first time in April and stayed at the Villa Madeleine on the east end - beautiful free-standing condos with pools terraced into the hillside over Teague Bay (top tier of condos) and over the Divi Carina Bay - all other units. The Reef Club was right below us at VM - there is a par 3 golf course on that property, nice pool, Lori's Deli with great food; acorss the street is rhe Reef Bay Beach and Duggan's Reef Restaurant. We also saw the property at Gentle Winds (north shore) which is beautiful and has everything - beautiful beach, huge pool, clubhouse, beach bar and restaurant.

We really enjoyed STX and plan to return next spring.
