Why Did We Wait So Long? Trip Report 10/15-10/22 Part IV

Villa Sweet Villa
We didn't sleep so well Wednesday night. Leslie had the sunburned legs as a factor, but I don't know what my problem was - at least until 4AM. There was a torrential downpour, and about the time the A/C in the bedroom cycled off we were aware of a something that sounded like a tapping or light hammering sound.
It was constant at about two beats per second. And it was driving us nuts! I got out of bed and checked to see if it was someone knocking on the door, but you could only really hear it in the bedroom. Eventually we decided that our best guess was water dripping somewhere, maybe an overflow from the cistern, since it gradually lessened and the only time we ever heard it again, although not as loud or as frequently, was after another rainstorm.
We dozed on and off until shortly after 7 when we couldn't stay in bed any longer. Breakfast was a sleepy affair. The back of Leslie's legs between her butt and her knees was a deep, dark red. We had been faithfully applying and reapplying aloe since we got home the day before, but they were still very tender.
Since I had the one or two things I needed to do on the internet, and since we didn't think Leslie needed to get any more sun on the back of her legs just yet, we decided we'd go into town once we got motivated and ready. We took our time eating, getting cleaned up and dressed, and headed down Gift Hill Rd. towards Centerline and Cruz Bay.
We stopped by St. John Spice to do some shopping - it was supposed to be primarily to get gifts for some of the folks back home, but I still managed to score a cookbook, a bigger container of Cruz Bay Grill Rub, and some hot sauce for myself. Went to Connections to see about taking care of the internet stuff I needed to do, but they said that their lines had been down and someone was supposed to be coming by to fix things.
Went to St. John Ice at the Lumberyard and got some water refills (thanks for the tip waterguy) then wandered into Dolphin Market to look around, then headed over to Mongoose Junction to peek into some of the stores that were closed the last time we were in town. It was getting close to lunchtime so we headed into the Grotto Deli. The smoked turkey/artichoke paninni I had was awesome, and Les said that her grilled chicken caesar salad was very good as well.
And as a bonus, THEIR terminals/internet connection were working so I was able to log on for 15 minutes to take care of that as soon as i finished my sandwich. The folks working in here were incredibly friendly and nice.
I really wasn't feeling great - not awful, but just not great, so we decided to head back to the villa and I took a nap. As it turns out, a little longer nap than I probably had planned to, so we just decided to make it a villa gravity day.
I made pulled pork at home the weekend before we left, so we had some of that, and the rest of Leslie's lunchtime salad and some leftover veggies for dinner. We both read a little in the books we brought with us ( Kite Runner and A Prayer For Owen Meany), we lounged in the pool, we watched the birds feed, we watched the sun set, just a relaxing day.
In honor of villa gravity day, I'll include some pictures of the villa to close this segment of the trip report.
