We are heading down in June with a couple who are "newbies". We were not planning on making a trip but RT airfare from Boston is running around $300 per person.

Bongo Bongo is at the top of our list. Any other recommendations. Location and price are not factors.

Thanks all!

The bedrooms at Splendore (Maria Bluff) were very large and equal. (Showers big enough for two) Very well maintained house with nice outdoor areas.

I would so love 300.00 airfare!

We are staying at Sol Inclination rented through Island Getaways in May of next year. It has a main house that has two very equal, gorgeous bedrooms. We are renting the guest house too, but take a look, it seems very nice!!

Hey Nic in KC-

We're renting Sol Inclination in June of 2008 :)

It's more expensive than we want to pay, but we're biting the bullet in hopes that it'll be worth it!

Also at the top of our list for this year were South Shore Villa, White Cottage, and Calicaribe.

Thanks Teresa...so many choices...but not a bad position to be in when you really think about it.

If you aren't one that "has to have a pool," I recommend Sunnyledge. It's perfect for 2 couples because the layout puts the living area in the center with 2 master suites on opposite ends. The masters are identical, so no one feels slighted. In my opinion, this villa has an ideal location and is simply perfect. Rents direct from owners too, which I have found to be an incredibly pleasant experience.

Cielo Vista also has two identical master suites that flank the common areas.

And a pool.

And a killer view from the deck of the sunsets.

See "Why Did We Wait So Long" Part IV for some pictures of the place.

We're heading to Bongo Bongo (BB) in early December and can provide a first person account. We decided to rent BB after having spent a couple of years following the BB boy's blog, (It was def time to give back!!!!), as well as wanting to stay at a special place. (We were married on STJ in 1997)

We stayed a couple of years ago at Villa Ambiance, which is in the same vicinity, and the view ROCKS.

Hope this helps. If you want lots of info, please feel free to ask.

I stayed at Bongo last year on my honeymoon. If either of you have any questions give me a shout. You can read my review in the villa review section.

Bongo Bongo looks very nice. However if you'd like something closer to the water take a look at Sea Stone. We rented it last year and it was very nice. Two equal masters at opposite ends of the house. Sits up on a cliff with endless views. The entire house has a/c. We are also looking at Latitude for our next trip. We've driven past it and the pictures look great but we've never stayed there.

We are headed to Sol Inclination next week. We toured it when we were on island in August, and it would be a great spot for 2 couples. One of the masters has an outdoor shower and tub, but the other master is a little larger and offers better views.
The house is gorgeous. The pool is a liitle on the small side, but the jacuzzi is large and in a great spot. Although with just 2 couples you would not be using the guesthouse, the veranda down there, which is adjacent to the pool, would be a great spot if you wanted some quiet time apart.
Will write more when we get home after 11/17.

Cinnamon Tarn is a great house for 2 couples. The views from above Cinnamon Bay can't be beat. No pool but a HUGE hot tub which is nice to soak in in the evening. We prefer the northshore views. I personally don't like to look out over roof-tops.

Villas for 2

Our favorite house on St John is Cinnamon Tarn--the most beautiful views and lots of privacy. If you wanted the same views and a pool, you could rent next door at Le Chateau. Views are as beautiful.
If those 2 are not available, Anole is just below them and also has a pool. It is actually a 4BR but the upper 2 bedrooms are gorgeous, extremely private and have views to die for from each one. The pool is downstairs and at the side of the house, so you actually have complete privacy from others in the house if you want to take a moonlight swim. The breezes through the upper bedrooms were wonderful at night, even in July. I wouldnt worry about the lack of A/C at any of these houses.
