Snokel gear carry on?

Has anyone carried on their snorkel equip. on the flight. I stopped at a dive shop looking for a bag to hold two sets, and they were not sure if the length of the fins would be to long for carry on. I really don't want to check another bag, saving that space for the rum

We head to the airport Thurs. night so no time for shipping.
Thanks for you help

We did carryon our snorkeling equip. I bought a backpack at a local dive shop that is made for 2 sets. We did not have any problem fitting the fins in (and one of our sets is long). The bag has the logo of the local shop, but I could check who makes it if that might help.

I always carry mine and hubby on. I use a "carpet bag" style bag and two sets fit fine with room to spare.

We always carry-on our snorkel bag (it holds 2 sets of gear). Haven't had a problem yet.

We've never had a problem. Our buddy, Big Red, has size 13 shoes and his fins are quite large - impressive actually. He packs his in his suitcase.

Ok, I think we need to get new fins because ours are so big, we must have so weird type. Hubs wears 14/15 and I swear his must be 36 inches long.

We have our own masks and snorkels but rent the fins once we get where we're going. I can always find fins that I'm satisfied with and appreciate not having to deal with them in my luggage.

Out of curiosity, how much does it cost to rent fins for a week?

As I remember from last Oct, Crabby's at Coral Bay rents fins for around $5/day. He also includes a mesh bag for your fins and other snorkel gear.
I was interested in this thread because I want to take my own fins this year and was wondering about carrying on my snorkel gear. Good to hear that it seems to be no problem.

Earlier this month we were on Virgin Gorda and fin rental was $2 day or $10 week. I don't remember what we paid to rent them the last time we were on STJ.

As long as they are 25" or less, you shouldn't have a problem.

Carry the mask and snorkel- check the fins. You can still snorkel without the fins if they get delayed. Can't say as much for snorkeling without the snorkel.

As a former swimmer mom, feel free to cut the rubber fins. They still work & are less bulky. Swimmers do it all the time and they sell short ones. You may have to work a little harder & burn more calories! I use a mesh bag from the local grocery store to transport mine. They never rip & the water drips out!

We have this "healthy back" bag made by Ameribag.

Maybe a bit much more than you may want to spend on a mesh snorkel gear bag, but it is very well made and well designed = no fatigue on the hike out to and from Waterlemon and it still looks like new after 3 trips and counting.
We fit 3 sets of masks, snorkels, shorter fins, fin booties, has plastic pocket inside, water bottle pocket outside. Nice product.
