Hey Mary Beth, Liamsaunt and the rest of you in Mass., have ya'll been followed???

Not followed, but they are common to see in alot of places. We used to have one that hung around outside of the office. Naturally, former employee jokes insued, and who knows, maybe those waddles did belong to former staff!

I see them quite often, especially on the back roads on my commute to/from work. I have seen quite a few recently, so I'm not surprised.

A funny story about turkeys - happened last fall just before Thanksgiving, appropriately enough.

A friend was driving a back road on his way to work and saw what appeared to be a jogger with three dogs heading toward him. As he got closer, he realized they were not dogs, but three turkeys - angry turkeys - chasing the jogger! he said the guy had a panic-stricken look on his face and had probably just been ambushed by the birds. To help the jogger, our friend pulled his car over such that he was between the guy and the turkeys, which forced the turkeys to stop chasing. Our hero let the jogger get far enough away (while being stared at by the angry birds) so that he didn't think the turkeys would continue chasing and then pulled out. Looking in the rear-view as he drove away, he saw the turkeys turn around and chase his car! He said it was one of the funniest things he had ever experienced - and made for a perfect Thanksgiving story as well.

I'm in New Jersey and haven't seen any turkeys around here lately. Well not of the animal variety anyway.

We have a group (gaggle?) of wild turkeys that live down the street - it cracks me up every time I see them.

We actually were confronted with a herd of cows running down the street toward our car!!! I panicked and pulled into someone's driveway and the stampeding herd just turned with me!! Apparently, they had escaped their barn down the street and then had absolutely no idea what to do with their newfound freedom

That is so funny ccasebolt because the varmints have chased me several times, too. They are very common around here and frankly a PIA. They are really aggressive. Once when my youngest was still in a stroller I was walking briskly on a sidewalk and there were about six in a yard. I hoped that would get by them before they noticed me but sure enough I looked over my shoulder and they were chasing us. I out ran them but I was truly prepared to kick some turkey ass if it came to it. Damn turkeys have a lot of nerve. You just don't mess with hormonal moms with babies. "The dingo ate my baby" my foot.

They are mighty tasty next to mash potatoes and dressing

And they have it coming, too!

Hey, if the Sox are half as aggressive as those turkeys during the Series, they'll be just fine

Too funny! I have never seen them on a roof before - gives the term "Peeping Tom" a whole new dimension! LOL!

Well now there is a case where I might have to root for the turkey....ummm...the one with feathers.

I work in Kendall Square in Cambridge. There is a large turkey that has taken up residence here. He spends most of his day "fighting" with his reflection in the windows of the office building in which I work.

Regarding wild turkeys, actually, I have not seen any recently. Last year John and I were driving near our home and a turkey flew across the road right over our car. They are not the best flyers so it was a little awkward.

The majority of turkey sightings I’ve experienced were actually in Connecticut when I would go down and visit John on weekends. He lived in a little town called Hamden while attending law school, and that place was overrun with turkeys! There was one bird that would always sit on the roof of his next door neighbor’s house, and we got followed down the street by them a couple of times too.

That said, I bet I'll start to see some "wild turkeys" out my office window as we get closer to game time. I've got my camera with me to capture any particularly spectacular "plumage."

I have at least 6-8 turkeys in my yard each day..they are very gentle and are only looking for food. They are also very very smart! I have a special one we named "Goldie" and she comes when she is called! I'm more concerned about them being hit when crossing the street or people surprised driving down the road seeing them standing in the middle of the street! They fly into the trees at night to sleep which is something to watch!
