So, Howie's Sunshine and I are pm'ing about how best to get to the car barge from Budget and Dependable car rentals. I imagine that they'll give us directions, but I want to hear from the masters (FlaGeorge?). This is my first time to the car barge and the bongoboys have not gotten the jeep cam for this route up at on-stjohn.com yet.
Any hints?
Google Maps has a suggestion. I assume it has us going the wrong way down roads and taking some scary paths.

If this link works, this is the way we usually go to Red Hook. Kind of hilly but cuts out some of the downtown CA traffic.
No matter what, if you just keep heading in the right direction, you'll end up at Red Hook!

OK, here is the easiest way - not the fastest but the easiest
1) Exit the airport and turn right
2) Stay on that road (do not make a turn for a while) past downtown CA, past the cruise ships and Havensite Mall, keep winding up the hill past the cruise ships and you will come to a stop sign that is hidden behind a bush (we joke that it is called the "stop sign that no one stops at"

) Turn LEFT. If you miss that turn you will end up at the Marriott Hotel so you will know you missed it so just turn around
3) Stay on that road until you come to a T Junction (the "Bridge to No Where" is on your right) Turn RIGHT
4) Stay on that road to Red Hook - on your right
Good luck

Yup, that's the way we come BACK from Red Hook to get to the airport. Know the path well.

Agree, Pia's route is pretty simple. If you go by Havensight later in the afternoon, you may get a little traffic there due to taxis bringing some cruise ship people back. Should take less than 30 minutes depending on traffic.
