What happens on New Year's Eve?

We'll be celebrating New Year's Eve on STJ! Yea! I know it's still over 2 months away, but I like planning ahead...
I've read about the racous New Year's Eve party at Foxy's on JVD, and I'm sure I would have loved it at certain points in my life that are difficult to remember right now.
However, we'll be on STJ with families -- 6 adults and 4 kids ranging in age from 9 to 12. I'm thinking that our best bet is a catered dinner at the villa. That way the kids can run around and not worry about their restaurant manners, we can all enjoy the pool, and the adults can have some celebratory beverages without worrying about driving home.
Will we be missing anything? Are there fireworks at the beach or anything else you think is worth braving the roads? Any suggestions for making it a fun celebration at the villa I'd love to hear your feedback!
