My Box is Shipped!

I just put my box in the mail - 22 lbs, priority mail with delivery confirmation for $28. Well worth it to NOT have to lug formula, diapers, sunscreen, and baby food. I made sure I packed only consumables. Things that will be GONE by the end of the trip so I don't have to worry about figuring out how to get them home.

Im glad you posted this. I was wondering how far in advance to mail the box! I figured 3-4 weeks ahead.
Did you send it to connections or a private party?

I sent mine a week ago (last Friday). It hasn't arrived yet... is that normal? The other times I sent a package it arrived in a few days. Should I be worried? We arrive Nov. 2nd.

If you send a package USPS PRIORITY MAIL it will take 7-10 days. If you send it first class (please say that isn't so) it can take anywhere from 3-6 weeks.

What size box did you use. Did you get the box at the post office?

Another question, Has anyone ever shipped down snacks like tortilla chips or crackers/cookies. Were they all broken by the time they got there?

NG, Im going to send snacks in their original package, then in another plastic bag and then I will cushion the items with bubble wrap. Same goes for the toiletries Im sending. I dont want anything to break open. Liquids are not supposed to be sent via Priority mail so I may have to use First Class mail and send it 6 weeks ahead.

Hey Ksea

I'm not sure who told you that you can't send liquids Priority as I order from CVS (sun oil, lotions, etc) and they always send Priority (as does La Mer for their toner)

Hi Pia, a lady who works at my post office told me that. I was trying to send some hair products via Priority Mail to Florida. She asked if there were any liquids (among other things) in the box. When I told her it was hair stuff, she said I would have to send it parcel post or 1st class mail. I'll see if FF's stuff makes it OK and go from there. I know she is sending liquid baby formula. I sure hope it does make it OK!!

CVS ships shampoo, conditioner, hair gell etc all the time Priority as do I when I am back in KC shopping but I always use tape around the caps and put them in ziplock bags (2) so they don't leak and have never had a problem - I guess I just answer no to her questions

Hey Pia....I will just shake my head ??? when she asks if there are any liquids in the box. You know, Im getting old and I don't always hear very well :?
I will be sure to wrap everything securly! I can't imagine that someone will xray the box and see my shampoo and such and dispose of my package. If they do I hope they call me first!

I guess technically baby food is liquid & I shipped it. No one at the PO here asked what was in the box. I shipped it priority with delivery confirmation as recommended by Susie at Christies.

I padded it all with diaperes and used a TON of tape. I suspect it will take 3-5 days to get there, but I'll let you know for sure when it arrives.

Flip Flop - good luck on 3-5 days :)

Normal, regardless of the Stateside PO guarantee for Priority Mail of 2-3 days, I have never had anything in under 7 and more often than not, 8 or 9 is the norm - gotta luv "island time"
