My passport still has my maiden name on it. Will they take my passport and a copy of my marriage certificate on Jost or do I need the original marriage certificate?

so does mine. but that's because I didn't change my name. i don't see what the problem would be on Jost. I could see a problem if you booked your air fare in your married name but your ID doesn't match. What are you expecting the problem to be?

I had to do that on my honeymoon and it was fine.

What name is on your drivers license? If its your married name, use that for ID for the air travel along with your birth certificate if they ask for two ids. At the BVIs they do not need two id's, so just give them the passport and fill out any forms using the name on the passport.

I used my married name for my tickets and have my maiden name on my passport. Typically, the airlines just need my marriage certificate with my passport but I don't know about what they need in St John.

I had my passport updated. They stampled the last page with a name change statement. Whenever they compare the Drivers License to the Passport, they always question the different last names. I simply tell them to look at the last page of the passport and off I go!!

Bug, where did they do that- at the airport or the passport office?

Customs at Jost is no big deal. The captain will take in the paper work and all he needs is the passport. On return to Cruz everyone has to go through but they have never asked for more than a passport any time I have been through there. It wouldn't hurt to bring the marriage certificate in a watertight ziplock of course but I would be shocked if you needed it either place.

Countdowns getting shorter

When we went through last week at Tortola to go to on to Jost, they simply looked at our form, asked how long we were staying, if it was our first trip to the British Virgin Islands, looked at us and our passports to make sure who we said we were and looked at our bags. I had my ferry ticket in case they needed it but they didn't.

The boat will just use your passport to fill out their manifest, so your name on your passport will be on the boat's manifest. Then as someone else said, just fill out your customs forms with your name on your passport, and you'll be fine.

It's only going to be an issue if things don't match.

When you go to Jost how would they know that's your maiden name? Just handle everything as if that's still your name and they will never know any different.

I agree. If you are a newbie, trust us, we have been there and done that! As long as the name you put on your customs/travel forms matches that on your passport, you are good to go.
