*grab some groceries/booze in STT (any suggestions where?)
*take the car barge over to the island (any idea on schedules and how long it takes to get there?)
*meet forumers Sunday!
*bday surprise for hubby mid-week
*hopefully go to a beach or two a day
*hopefully figure out some way to get to the beach where the soggy dollar bar is
*limin'
*one night at Secret Harbour (STT - any suggestions what to do for the day there would be appreciated)

The last trip we got the Jeep from Dependable and they are a great operation.
As for Booze – we stop at Cost U Less on the way to Red Hook. It’s a Sam’s Club kind of place, but you don’t need to be a member. Good booze prices. Also, the K-Mart in CA has great prices on booze – yep, K-Mart. It is on the way to Red Hook.
As for food – we always shop at the Food Center just out side of Red Hook. This is where the “Locals” shop and the prices are very good. It’s like any major food store stateside. The best part is – they have live Caribbean Lobsters in a tank. Make sure you get a big bug before going to STJ.
Car barge runs every hour. Get the one-way ticket, because you might be on another company’s car barge coming back.
Have a great trip.

Fla George pretty much nailed the St Thomas thing. If you don't want to make an extra stop for booze you could always just buy it at the airport duty free shop. We have done this on several trips just for convience sake. It will be a dollar or two more per bottle than Cost U Less and a dollar or two less than St John, but its right beside the baggage claim and the bar in the airport. While you are there you might as well get a bushwacker at the bar while you are waitin' on your bags and car. Trust me on that one. Also if there is anything special you want grocery wise that the discount place doesn't have there is always the Marina Market at Red Hook before the ferry.
As for Jost and the Soggy Dollar, if you can't get anyone to share a charter with you, I saw your other post, you might want to check out Dolphin Water taxi. They have been posting all over the place and it looks like they are running a daily shuttle service to jost just google them, it might be worth call.
Good luck and have fun.

I think everyone needs to spend a day on Jost. If you can't get a water taxi or private boat, just take the ferry. You'll get to spend about 5 hours there, and it's well worth it. Just don't forget your passport!

17 more days for us. Getting all our ducks in a row this week. Just booked Palm Tree Charters for our boat trip during the second week when the whole gang comes in. Hey, Rick--please try not to trash or sink the craft with your crew next week.
Any of you over the hill "old folk" from the 55 plus crowd, or those in bad shape--feel free to join us on our downhill march with the Natl Park Service Reef Bay Hike on Thursday, Nov 8. This is something we have always wanted to do on St John, and no one, even our kids, have wanted to take the time or expend the energy to do it. Well, fifteen years after we were in our prime--we're going--even if we have to be airlifted or rescued by the Coast Guard at the end.
They say it's all down hill--right???
