I will be traveling to St. John later this month. I have some significant food allergies, and often can only find foods at a health food store. Are there any on St. John, or should I bring my own food?

There are two in St. Thomas that I know of. One by the Pueblo in Sub base and one by Wendy's in Mandela Circle. Not sure about St. John. Maybe Starfish may have a section. You should give them a call. Otherwise, just stop in St. thomas on your way to St. John!

Has anyone come across a good health food store in Virgin Islands? I am looking for things such as: oat bran, dry beans and legumes, tofu, dry fruits, nuts, etc. Arriving in the city last week, one of our luggage that contained some of these things was lost and I am looking to replenish it.

I have celiac disease and thus have quite a restricted diet. I wouldn’t count on being able to find what you need in the islands. Just buying regular groceries can mean trips to a few different stores to get everything you need, let alone specialty items. If you need it, I definitely suggest bringing it with you.

I hit Pine Peace for dry beans and lentils. They have most of the Goya line. I've gotten TVP there as well. I've had better luck with tempeh than tofu; sour tofu on more than one occasion.
