I know this has been discussed a lot recently, so I thought I would share my experience so far. On Saturday morning, I shipped myself a package to pick up at Connections. I shipped from MA using USPS priority mail. According to the tracking, it was delivered this morning. That's a lot faster than I was expecting. I know every mailing experience is different, but I thought this was interesting.

Wow, that was fast! How did you communicate with Connections so that they knew what to do with the package? And Im so curious, what did you send yourself? I don't want to forget anything!

I shipped our deposit check the same way, thinking there was no way it would get there within the guaranteed delivery time. (I had a check go missing last year.) The postmaster told me the USPS would refund the fee if it didn't make the deadline.
I mailed it on a Saturday morning and was shocked that it actually arrived on time.

I called Connections and gave them my name and arrival date before shipping the package.
As to what I shipped...well, I was a lot more throrough back in June. This time, I just put in things that I did not think would fit into my carryon bag. I also thought, since I was shipping on such short notice, that I did not want to send anything that would cause an issue if I could not get the package on time. So, I shipped our fins, but not our masks and snorkels. I also shipped down the bag we haul our snorkel gear in, thinking we could check it through on the way back home. Other than that, I just sent a bunch of sunscreen and other sundries, some books, and, most importantly, a corkscrew!

Very, very good timing, but I do have a question - was it delivered to Connections or did it arrive at the STT facility (normally where they track USPS packages to) as it can take 4 days to be delivered to STJ from STT
I hope it made it all the way - great job.

Thanks Liamsaunt. Yep, Im going to do the same, although I may ask the Villa owner if she will accept it for me. If she can't, I will send it to Connections.

Hmm...I don't know. Here is the message I got:
Your item was delivered at 8:51 AM on October 3, 2007 in ST JOHN, VI 00831.
I'm not picking it up until the 12th so even if it is still on St. Thomas it's all good. I suppose I could call Connections and see if it is there but I don't want them to think I am weird.
