Next spring's trip to STJ will be the first that all 3 daughters will be of drinking age. I'd welcome any advise for how this husband of one and father of three can make his girly tropical drink dollars stretch the farthest while out and about on the island.

Make 'em in batches at the villa - then - "to go" cups!

Absolutely a must to buy your own rum (and various juices) - - also find all the places with happy hour specials like Woody's. The Green House in C.A. has daily happy hour specials where ALL drinks are 2 for 1 (even bushwackers and painkillers). I'm sure you'll be in CA for all the shopping anyway.

Or make sure they know the fine art of meeting the young, single guys in a bar who will buy them a drink

Give everybody an allowance to spend as they please -- whether on drinks or shopping.

Also -- tell them bar drinks are much more fattening than the homemade ones. It's TRUE.

Definitely make frozen drinks at the villa.

We became really good at to go drinks. The gallon orange juice container became our friend. We'd mix various rums and various juices/punch in the container. Freeze it while we slept and then take it out in the morning when we left for the beach. Slushy drinks all around! We actually were using two containers a day a couple of days. I'd go with two containers for that many girls! It was much cheaper then buying individual drinks and we could have it on the beach!

Woody's $1 bottles at happy hour. My non-drinking mother was so excited about this bargain that she bought two (2!) for me to drink on the ride back to Maria Bluff area.

Tell them that the drinking age in the USVI is 35 years old and that St. John is a dry island.

My daughters love the walk-up window at Woody's. The 10 year old tow head usually gets her strawberry dacquiri "virgin" without having to ask. My oldest will be 16 when comes with us in March. I may have to keep a close eye on her drinks.

Don't forget Morgans Mango Thursday night 2 for 1 (dangerous).

Starfish Market has a good selection of canned tropical fruit juices/necters from Libby's: mango, papaya, tamarind, peach, etc. These go great added to pina coladas when you cannot find fresh fruit. My personal favorite is a pina colada made with enough fresh papaya to turn the drink pink.

Nic, that is such a good idea! We bought some frozen drinks at Trunk, but not nearly enuff rum in there for us and they were pricey!

Have to agree, Nic, this is a GREAT idea! So those of you who are on island when the SOTB group are there, you'll be able to recogize us by all the big juice containers we're carrying around!
