Sorry to bring such sad news to this usually cheery forum, but I thought you forumites would want to know that Miss Lucy passed away this weekend.
I never had the pleasure of meeting her, but of course have enjoyed her restaurant several times. As far as I know, it will remain open.

She will be missed. A sweet lady and so much a part of why we love St. John.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Miss Lucy but I do have great memories (slightly clouded by alcohol) of a great night at a full moon party. Peace to her family.

Oh no, that is sad. We've never made it to Miss Lucy's and I really wanted to get out there for lunch in June. My sympathies are with her family.

Very sad news. May she rest in peace. We have made it a tradition to do Sunday brunch there on each of our past trips. I hope we can contnue with that in the future.
Thank you for relaying the news.

oh no. the end of an era. RIP Miss Lucy.
I'll never forget one day we noticed two waitresses huddling and whispering and heard, "Miss Lucy just shot a goat!"

One of my fondest memories on one of our first trips to STJ was to have Miss Lucy as our taxi driver. She had this wonderful van with flowers on the hood ornament. She was delightful as she guided us around STJ. We also love the restaurant. I believe that she handed over many of the duties a few years back. Not quite sure but it may have been to a relative.
My condolences to the family on the loss of a great St. Johnian.

Miss Lucy was the first person I met when I visited the island in the 80's.
Her and Mr. Benjamin are the pillars of the community.
She has not been really active in a while at Miss Lucy's so can not see why it would not stay opened or change in any way

I am so glad someone addressed this. She was a wonderful lady and a St. John icon. I think we can all learn about her spunk and entrepreneurial spirit!
