Looking for the perfect Villa again. Yea. Want one as high up as possible, pool, hot tub, air in bedroom. We love the high up views. Like open living room with large expanses of glass out to view. Would like a stone outdoor shower if possible. 3000 per week off season. Does this sound like anywhere you know of ?

$3250 Off Season for 2. No hot tub, but it has full a/c, infinity edge pool and it is at the top of Sky Top, in Fish Bay. 180 degree plus view from Reef Bay to St Croix.

Good Luck!

Don't know about anyone else, but I have always seen lots of compalints about hot tubs on this board over the years. Mostly having to do with the hot tubs not working or in poor condition. Flip flop once had some traveling companions renta place with a hot tub and they broke out head to toe ina rash afetr just one use!

IMHO having a pool is a MUST, but not so much with the Hot Tub.

We usually travel April-July so a hot tub when it's hot just doesn't work for me-- I want to cool off.

Of course we're going for the first time in December this year -- so I may be eating my words on the necessity of a hot tub.

My 2 cents is put the hot tub requirement low down on the totem pole and don't let lack of one be a deal breaker for a great place with the other amenities.

Agreed about the hot tub. This is why my friend got: http://www.cdc.gov/healthyswimming/derm.htm. Nothing serious but really made her uncomfy for the rest of her vacation. Not a risk I am willing to take!

I have a hot tub at home and love it but wouldn't get in a public one.
At least I don't think I would.....maybe after lots of painkillers.....then I'd get up the next morning worring about what I 'caught' in the hot tub the night before!

Nancy,

Here's my suggestion. Consider the South Shore Villa.

It has 4 bedrooms and two extra single beds that can be setup for a total sleeping arrangement of 10. It has air conditioning in all rooms.

It is perched at 750 ft on top of a mountain and has panoramic views of the south side of St John (very nice views of Ram Head). It also has 2 outdoor showers. All of the showers are done in travertine stone and are very attractive.

It does not have a hot tub, however the infinity edge pool stays fairly warm even in the evening, thanks to a large stone wall that extends into the pool. The stone picks up the heat from the sun all day long and then releases it in the evening keeping the pool nice a warm -- not hot tub warm, but certainly comfortable.

The living-room has lots of large mahogany windows and french doors that open to an expansive view and covered veranda.

It was just named a "Best Bet for Families" by Home Away Traveler. http://traveler.homeaway.com/HA_travele ... id=HAT11-2

There's also a video at http://www.on-stjohn.com/2007/10/28/vil ... ore-villa/

Off season rates start at $3,250.

In the spirit of full disclosure I do have an interest in the South Shore Villa; but even if I didn't, I would still be recommending it. In any case, there are lots of great villas on St John and the important decision is already made. You are coming to the best island in the world!

Good luck in your search.
