Just saw a bear in my back yard yesterday. Northern NJ is full of black bear. Still nervous about hiking around these parts.

Just returned from a vacation in Spain I see this amazing photo. Are you kidding when you tell that you saw this creature near Drunk Bay on STJ? Sometimes I'm unsecure about the American humour.

And yes, I have a lot of pics of wild animals. Latest from our safari in Botswana- I wanted to celebrate my 60 years birthday together with elephants - and I did!!

But also on vacations to Sulawesi and Borneo we have seen wild animals, mostly different species of monkeys and chimpanzees.

Linne, Happy 60th Birthday. You are quite a traveler. I'm curious to know if you went to Mashatu in Botswana, and if you did, are you familiar with the webcam at Pete's Pond?

Sorry, we weren't there. We were on a 10 days trip, where we slept in small and very simple tents out in the wilderness. The first two places were in the Okavango Delta and then (on my birthday) we had an exhausting drive to Savuti in Chobe National Park (where the picture is taken). The last day of the trip we drove to Zimbabwe to see Victoria Falls, and then we arranged for ourselves to stay two days in a totally different accommodation -a luxury lodge in Zimbabwe with our own butler (paid less than half price- only a few tourist). Have you been in Botswana?

Linne,

What a wonderful sounding trip. I have not been to Botswana or Africa. I would so love to go.

The camera I watch is at www.ngm.com/wildcamafrica It is streaming live action full color. The woman who controls the camera during the African day is named Afke, and she is from the Netherlands. I think you might like watching it. I know the people on the forums would love to hear about your trip.

If you have written a trip report about your African trip as you did with your Virgin Islands vacation I would love to read it.
