Has anyone used St John Car Rentals? Would you recommend them?

This year we had just the two of us so we reserved a cheapo 2 door Vitara. We got as far as Gallows Point when we realized the electric windows were stuck in the down position. We took the car back and they quickly replaced the old Vitara with a brand new Wrangler (same $$$)and we were back on our way in 5 minutes.

cool- are they located in town? Can you park in their lot?

Located next to the Beach bar, and yes, you can use their lot.

Great Scott(pardon the pun)!
Do you have to ask them beforehand to use their lot? Are you allowed to use it during the day or only at night?

We stayed at Gallows, so we didn't need to use their lot. My guess would be either day or night, but I'd check with them first.

We only used the STJ Car rental lot a couple of times in the evening and we just pulled in and parked. I assumed they know their cars by stickers or whatever.

STJ car rental looks very convenient. We are not sure what day(s) we will need a car though. Can you just walk in and rent one for the day?

It may be very hard to just walk in and rent from them. We rented twice in off season, May and August and both times all of their vehicles were rented. You might be able to call the week before and hope for the best, but they were pretty popular.

Their service has been good. When the other part of our group had a flat tire on the way to the beach, they were able to call and someone came to help within minutes and they were on their way. Their lot is kind of a pain because it can be very crowded and has steep drives in and out. We got up the into the lot last trip and then had to back down and try to avoid hitting anything. We did end up running into one of the poles, but thankfully it didn't do much damage. You can park in it day or night though! Even with that, we'll still be renting from them again next year!

We used them this summer for the first time. They were very quick and courteous, 3 blocks from the dock. We had a new Jeep Liberty for the week. I highly recommend them!

Has anyone ever had to pick their car up after-hours from them? On the web site they say that if you aren't going to be there until 5 just to rent the next day and take a cab to where you are staying.

The more I talk to folks here, the more I realize that there's no way we're going to be there before 5 p.m.

The girl who was in charge of our rental said they said it was OK, so I was wondering if anyone had experience with renting from them after-hours. Their web site makes it sound like it's not an option, and I wanted to make sure it really was.
