Simply titled:"Man that sure is a nice ashtray". O.K. i'm back to finish this report.Sorry that I had to break this report up into 2 parts. I was interrupted by company that came to visit.O.K here we go....7/24 We had just left Gibney Beach and had arrived at Maho Beach. We settled down near the Goat Trail{East side of the beach} Soon after we spotted a little Crab digging a hole and took a pic of himImageIt's nice to enjoy even the little things that S.T.J. has to offer. I went out on my own to snorkel the rocky shore heading North.I wonder how many of you have came across this type of fish...ImageI think it is a Red Bishop Rock Fish.Am I correct? Anyways I spent some time watching this guy and he never moved. He was in about 2-3 ft. of water. The underwater world here is a beautiful one,I always enjoy snorkeling this area, night or day. I was suprised at the colors of the coral.ImageI followed up to the point where the Angel fish live.Angelfish is a good name for them, they are just heavenly, vivid colors on the Queens, and those white lips on the French.I just can't get enough of them, and why is it that the Queen's are so shy and the French seem not to be?ImageHow many of you would like to snorkel this right now?Dumb question huh? Anyways I decided to return to shore heading out to the middle where there's nothing but a sandy floor, hoping to find a turtle or ray.I was in luck,I found a ray,and a nice sized one to.I thought to myself, that this was a nice way to end my snorkeling adventures. On shore,I rested on my beach chair and looked out towards the water to to see a man in his early twenty's smoking a cigarette. No big deal right? Well he was standing in water about to his knee's and took a big puff. After that he extended his arm out with the cigarette tapped his index finger on top spreading the ashes onto the water surface.I don't know why,but this thought came to me,"Man that sure is a nice ashtray" Now don't get me wrong,I don't beat up smokers, and I don't think he was hurting the sea life ,it just seemed strange to me to see someone do that.Silly huh? We decided to return to the cottage for lunch, and then spent the remainder of the day at the Westin pool.ImageI'm sorry that I didn't get this report out sooner. It's just been so busy around here.I have just one more to do! 8){I typed this at 10:30 p.m. so please excuse any typos} Parafins........

Loved the reports and pics, the snorklin ones are really getting me pumped for our trip. I bet many of us have seen that rock fish and never knew it. Amazing what mother nature has created, good eye. The Queen Angel must be the diva of the underwater world, gorgeous and she knows it and were not worthy of her time. I snorkeled with a huge French Angel at Hawknest in 3 ft of water like forever and he could care less that I was there.

Nice snorkeling pictures.

I believe that fish on the rock is a Scorpion fish, and should not be touched. They have venomous spines and are very good at hiding.

My favourite among the angels is the gray. I don't know why, I just think they are gorgeous. But I like all of the angels.

Angels are my favorites too - we saw a HUGE one the size of a door mat at Francis in late June. It had two other smaller ones hanging around it. We watched them for an eternity.

Thanks for all the reports Parafins! Sad they are over
