7/22 Went to Gibney/Oppenheimer beach in the morning.{Now this is when I messed up.I put Mary Lou in one of my earlier reports.Sorry.We met Mary Lou for the first time on this day. She's the one who stayed at Gibney's cottage and gave us a tour.}I snorkeled out in the middle and spotted two Trigger fish.I love these little guys! There's a lot to see on this reef. The Elkhorn Coral looked to be in good shape as well as the reef itself. We visited Tree Lizard Lounge for lunch.Great french fries, but the staff didn't seem very friendly. After lunch we hiked to Little Cinnamon Beach. Man was that trail rugged! Somehow we made it to the beach.I did my best to find the underwater aircraft. No luck! The kid's enjoyed the small rock ruins there. Interesting plants inside the ruins and the beach itself had great views.Later we made it back to the jeep and drove to Cathernsburg ruins. If you have never taken you kid's there,do so! Our family has had alot of fun running in and out of the ruins.[img][/img]Here's a tip:Never go into tall weeds for a closer look at ruins.I did and found out that my legs seemed to burn! Then I had to walk back through! The cleared up within a few minutes and had no other problems.Parafins....

Cat pointed out something interesting about the Catherineburg ruins when we were there. She asked why you can't walk in the ones at Annaberg but you can at Catherineburg. Does anyone know why?

Keep 'em coming Parafins, I look forward to each installment!

I'm not sure why you can't enter the Annaburg mill. You certainly can enter the surrounding buildings. Now why we are on the subject of mills,I spotted one while on Bordeaux mountain. It was at a pull off on the road with a view of Hurricane Hole. I had looked down below and seen a rock structure. It was cone shaped and was covered in vegatation.Does anyone know what mill that is? Lastly did you know that there's one called Susanannaburg? It's on private property and looks like the one at Annaburg. I will try to do another report today. :D Parafins

Aren't the mill ruins at Catherineberg restored and reinforced? I thought they were and that is why it is OK to walk on them. There are additional ruins across the street from the mill that Parafins showed in his photo. Those ruins are not restored and there are signs posted telling you to keep out. Look at the difference in the condition of the ruins in this photo (which is mostly of a deer :D ), these are the ones across the street:

Plus, if I remember correctly, there is a HUGE beehive in the mill at Annaberg. No bees for me, thank you!

Liamsaunt,
1st - Nice pic with the deer and ruins. Do you have your pics available online somewhere? You have really nice shots that I have noticed lately.

2nd - I stood and watched that huge beehive at Annaberg, it was really intense, you could hear the humming at a distance.
I didn't know beehives stay around that long?! I suppose if undisturbed in a tropical climate it's possible? We were there in 2005, when did you see it? I wonder long it's been there? Hmmm, interesting :)
