This was a great drink I found in some magazine and made it down the shore and I even shared.

Equal parts:

Cruzan coconut Rum
Mango juice
Pinapple Juice

Put in blender with crush ice.

Top with a spoonfull of cocounut and crushed pineapple.

It was really goood!!!!!!!!

I find regional phrases interesting. Do folks in Philly really say "down the shore" instead of "down at" or "down to the shore?"

Steve - no doubt she was somewhere on the Jersey Shore.
Thats probably THE top New Jersey area regional phrase of all time.
You dont "go to the beach" in NJ, you "go down the shore".
Don't know how that ever originated, but it is widespread throughout the region and been that way for as long as I've been around.

I could beach at the ocean in 20 minutes and I still say to my husband "want to go down the shore today?"

Yep, "Down the Shore" is what we use here. Live near Philly, but go "down the shore" to North Wildwood, NJ.

I use to have this great t shirt that had all South Philly/Italian sayings and "down the shore" was on there, so maybe that's where it originated?

"Down the shore" is also used in my hometown PA Coal Region Area.

Everyone went "down the shore" for vacation growing up.

You've got a friend in..... I was born in Reading, too!! :-) Do you still live in the city? I grew up in Vegas, and live in Anchorage, but it is nice to see my hometown pop up every now and then. BTW, if anyone is interested, I am going to be in Tortola/Anegada from Jan. 4th thru the 11th for a diving trip... So if anyone wants to link up at that time for diving or hanging out, let me know :-)

Bob:

Small world!! I don't live in the city of Reading but right outside of it. Unfortunetly, the city has become quite dangerous to live in these days

The ladies in the family used to drive to Reading to shop at VF, I feel like I spent half my childhood at the outlets!
