7/16 We leave the driveway at 3:15 a.m. Off to O'Hare. The flight went well and was on time. We used U.S.Air. I found the rum punch, gulped it down, grabbed our bags and then off to the taxi. Car sickness struck my wife and son on the way to Redhook. The boat ride over didn't help matters for my wife. My son seemed to improve. We arrived at Samuel Cottages around 5:00 p.m.
As my wife recovered, I visited Rhonda and her husband Morgan who occupied cottage #3. I met Rhonda on this forum about 2 months before. Nice folks. Every morning after that I would meet them and swap trip reports. 7/17 Out of the cottage by 10:00 a.m. Picked up lunch at Subway. Off to Hawksnest. All the picnic tables were taken by a large family reunion so we ate in the jeep. Then off to Caneel Bay. We visited Honeymoon and Salomon. This was our first visit to this area. I was suprised at the length of Honeymoon beach. Very beautiful!! Next was the hike to Salomon. We saw a deer along the way. Salomon seemed to be a shorter beach with wonderful palms. No naked guy reports, sorry! Later we left for Starfish market to pick up supplies. We then returned to our cottage to find no power. The owners called and told us it could be days. Some type of explosion occured on S.T.T. The cottage had an electric stove so we drove over to the Westin for a hot meal. They did a great job under a lot of pressure. Hotdogs, hamburgers, and fish were served. A hodge podge of things from the kitchen. Later we returned to the cottage and tried to get some sleep. I was a sweaty mess. Around 1:00 a.m. the power came on, Yeh!!!
