According to Frank Barnako's website, The Canvas Factory has closed:

I stopped in there a couple times to buy visors when I forgot to bring one along on vacation.
It's too bad.

I'm soooooo sorry to see the Canvas Factory close. We were there in June and found out he was going to close in August. I ordered a boat load of bags that should last me for many many years.

Strange article. I wonder who Frank talked to because the current owner is a man named Tom.

Tom, on the CV's web site ... says they're done.
I'm very sorry, too.

Frank, do you think we are going to see more long-time business close because of the hike in property assessments?
Cheers, RickG

Do we have some reason to believe that the property tax assessment has something to do with why The Canvas Factory closed? That was not my understanding....

It had nothing to do with property taxes. Tom was very open to us about what he closed. The store hadn't made money since he owned it - too much competition from Bean or stores that carried cheap bags. Just plain not enough sales to cover expenses.
