AS THE ISLAND TURNS - part 6

Monday, August 6th
Today, hubby, brother, girlfriend and I wanted to wake up early and go snorkeling at Waterlemon Cay and Long Bay. We were hoping that the grandparents would watch the kids while we explored the east end. Everyone fell for it except my 9 year old son. He really, really, really wanted to go even after I told him he would be hiking, it would be hot and he would hate it! Hubby said, "Awww, let him go with us!" I gave him the evil eye but no luck. We were off and ready to see starfish, turtles, stingray, sharks, dolphins and whales, oh my! This will be better than Sea World!
The longer than expected walk to Waterlemon with a 9 year old:
"My feet hurt ... How much longer? ... What's for lunch? ... Carry me!"
Slowwwwwwwwwly but surely we made it past Leinester Bay and over to the point ready to snorkel around Waterlemon Cay. A few minutes into it, I spot the largest parrot fish I have ever seen! Where's the underwater camera? D@MN! It's back in the beach bag on shore! No time to go back, but looking back I see hubby struggling with our sons mask, thinking "I knew he shouldn't have come!"
Oh great! It's starting to rain! Well, I'm already wet so back to snorkeling! The fish & coral were big and beautiful and it seemed so calm underwater while big rain drops are hitting my back. Pretty soon waves began to cover my snorkel tube and clearing the water every 5 seconds was no fun. There was no way I was going to make it all the way around and started swimming against the current to get back to shore. We all made it back with just one sighting of a stingray from hubby's brother. Oh well, the rain was not letting up as you can see!!!

Waterlemon wash out!
We packed up for the 1 mile hike in the rain to get back to the car. My sons shoes were really rubbing against his ankles and eventually gave up walking all together. As we were sitting on the trail trying to figure out how he could walk on the rocks, bro-n-law spots something black hidden in the bushes. Can you believe they were water shoes in my sons size?? A gift from heaven! We looked all around to find anyone who might own them, but there was not a soul in sight. He slipped them on and life was good again!

This calls for smoothies at Columbo's smoothie stand! 4 Lime-n-Coconuts please and ice cream for "happy feet!" ($40.00!)
* Note to self: Open smoothie stand, get rich!
We should have gone back to the villa to relieve the grandparents and take the other kids to the Westin for some fun. But we threw caution to the wind and landed at Skinny Legs for juicy blue cheese burgers. It hit the spot! Lots of spots! (did I tell you about my expanding waistline?)
Hate to eat and run and miss snorkeling at Long Bay, but back to the villa we must go to pick up the other kiddos and take them swimming in this pool that they have been staring at from the villa deck:

The kids had a blast chasing the iguanas, swimming and flipping off this thing:

Hard to believe all that rain a few hours ago and now calm and peaceful ...

We even bumped into our church friends and promised to hang out at Hawksnest Bay tomorrow. The sun was setting:

It was getting late so we ordered 3 Senoritas pizzas while I showed bro-n-law the hook bracelet his girlfriend was admiring ... She will be so surprised if you get it for her ... SOLD!
We boogied back to the villa to wash the pizza down with some VINO ... Where's all the vino? Did the grandparents drink it all while we were gone? NOOOOOOOOOO! We have one full day to go and looks like we will have to make a wine run tomorrow!!
Last day of fun tomorrow at Hawksnest! And finally some food porn!! Don't miss the season finale of
