Hello: I have just rented a condo for April 2008 in an area referred as the Upper Deck area, just outside Cruz Bay.
Is anyone familiar with the area? I have been to St. John before but do not recall any reference to this area. The name of the condo is Coral Breeze.

Upper is deck is at the top of Jacobs Ladder. You take a left at the top of the hill and then your first right. It is a mixed neighborhood of vacation rentals and locals.
I just stayed in the that area and it was fairly quiet. It is a B*tch pulling out onto the South Shore road but you get used to it pretty quickly.

Turn left at the very top of Jacob's Ladder. Jacob's Ladder is the steep hill right before going down the hill to the Westin Resort. The Upper Deck at one time was a restaurant - closed after Hurricane Hugo. This is a residential neighborhood.

This is also very close to the area where Sirenusa Condos are under construction. There has been locally a lot of controversy over this development.
