Counting the days to STJ!! Please don't think I'm a snob or anything just because I have this card - cause I promise we're not!! Not sure how many of you have this card but we upgraded from the Gold card due to hubby's travel and because we like the extra amenities and services they offered.
Anyway, just got an e-mail from Amex stating that access to American Airlines Admirals Club has just been added to their portfolio. AA pricing for flights to STT have been excellent this year-- we got our tix for $320 each, incl taxes. With lounges in San Juan, Miami and Dulles our layovers just got a little bit nicer!!
So if you have this Amex card and you're flying AA your flying experience just got nicer!! Now if only they had lounges at STT!!! Woohoo! Now we get to feel like we're flying first class even if we're not.

I think my sister has that Amex card, so I will let her know! How nice to be able to go to the private lounge during layovers. What kind of good stuff do they have in there anyway??

Gromit,
Thanks for the information.
Do you happen to know if it's true that the Amex Platinum can get us a room upgrade at Caneel? It seems as if I remember reading that at one time...mia

Most clubs offer free internet access, nice restrooms, comfortable sofas and chairs, free food and drinks (incl. alcohol). Plus when you check in at the desk they will make note of when your flight leaves and let you know when it's time to board. Also, if you're on the upgrade list they keep track of that for you. Makes traveling a heck of a lot nicer! Some clubs have more amenities than others.
Bill-- YAY!!!!! I'm the 5'10" blonde with the hubby who's a dead ringer for Nascar driver Tony Stewart (we get stopped in airports all the time by fans!)

Not sure about Caneel. I'd have to check. Although the complimentary upgrade is a common feature for partner hotels.
Ksea, your sis can bring in one guest per card holder. ex. When hubby and I travel with my Mom and Aunt, we can each bring a guest in on our card becasue we each are a cardholder.

How about room upgrades at Caneel with Platinum Amex?
Anyone know the answer? I asked when I called Caneel, but the person I spoke to didn't seem to think it can be done. Guess I should call Amex...huh?

Thanks for the info Gromit. We usually dont fly together (she in GA and me in VA) but she can treat her BF to the lounge! Sounds great to me. Seems to me some company offered me a trial membership (Delta?) and I didn't take them up on it. Probably should have. Can kids go in? Are they open 24 hrs?

Does anyone know if the Platinum card will give a companion ticket to STT? The lady I spoke with at AMEX didn't know and the line she switched me to got cut off.
Companion ticket

Hi Gromit, I have a platinum card, too, but I didn't get that piece of correspondence and have not been able to find information on the AmEx site.
I hope the lounge access allows the card holder and a companion. Is that what it specifies?
Thank you!

I got an e-mail from Amex onthee addition. If you go to their web site it's listed under "Airlines" on the Platinum site. I'm sure you can call the concirge and they will tell you as well.
Card holder and companion is the standard-- see discussion above....
