What's up with the roundabout?

Where exactly are they planning to put this roundabout I keep hearing about? And what is the projected time frame to get it done? HA! I know, I know....look how long it took to finish the car ferry dock. Wondering what the impact will be on traffic around the building site. We thought there was much more traffic this year in town than in previous years anyway.

The project is slated to tie up Cruz Bay for two years. Officials expect work to begin in February 2008 and continue until February 2010.

The roudabout will be located where the Texaco used to be in Cruz Bay.

OMG - I guess getting to Gifft Hill will be a nightmare next July......

Yeah, good luck with that....
We usually rent over on Choc Hole. This year we're at Cinnamon and hope to avoid some of the mess if we can. But I'm sure everyone will be impacted on some level.

Remember the scene in European Vacation when Chevy Chase couldn't get out of the roundabout? That happened to hubby and me in rural England. Well at least maybe we can put the top down on the jeep and work on our tans if we get stuck in St. John - just another adventure in paradise.

Gifft Hill should be good. When we were over in Virgin Grand Estates I took Centerline down to downtown Cruz Bay due to the condition of Gifft Hill road and that keening passenger whine that came from the back seat (wimps, you're suppose to hang from your seat belt on the way down).

AH...THE BEAUTY OF GIFFT HILL. If the traffic gets too bad and people whine because of the road conditions......you just stay at the villa, drink and enjoy the view....AIN'T LIFE GRAND?

Nope - we never go during carnival - just too crazy! I have a month off in July AND we have two giant choc. labradors who are scared to death of fireworks...so we always stay home and snuggle with them until after the 4th. Next year we arrive on the 11th.

That's right!
And if you need to get to the north shore to avoid the roundabout, just take 10 towards Coral Bay to hit 20, grab a smoothie at Columbos, then hit the beach. Or the other way around! Beach then STJ smoothie!
Either way would be great right now!
