Just curious - is it after a heavy rain like this or a more sustained period of rain that really brings out the skeeters, and if so, how many days later does that happen and how long does the increased population last? Thanks.

We experieneced some showers like that when were were vsiitng two weeks ago. I've never heard rain that loud and the sound of the water rushing into the cisterns under the LR was like standing over a river. Pretty cool.

I WISH we had weather like that here in Atlanta. It's high 90s, humid and brilliantly sunny, which makes for miserable conditions. It's like being in a Dutch Oven.
So much for outdoor activities... the air quality is ruled "hazardous to all groups."
Webcam looks cool. St. John is even beautiful when it's pouring out.

Pia could you send some of that rain up here

It would be a welcome relief we are having temps in the 100's all week and have had no rain to amount to anything in over a month. Makes me wish I were still on St John

Wish we had that rain here. It feels like 105 here with the humidity. My garden is lifeless. Hope all stays well on STJ...no hurricanes please!

Hi jmq
Mosquitos usually appear approx 10 days after heavy rains and last anywhere from 4-12+ days (in my experience anyway) depending if it was multiple days of rain or just one or two.

Rain in the Virgin Islands is literally "Pennys from Heaven." there is nothing better than a full cistern.

The tree frogs are singing their little froggie heads off. They love the rain.

Pia, our neighbors picked up a sailboat at the Moorings last Thursday, can you describe their trip weather wise so far?? They were only going as far as Anegada, pretty much hanging around you guys.
Thanks
