It looks nice, but I am terrified by steep roads...Can anyone say if the road to this villa is "normal"?

No, it is quite steep and rutted (at this time anyway) but I do believe it is a beautiful villa.
Here is a portion of a villa review - you can read the whole report if you click on the banner above that says "St John" and then scroll down to Villa Reviews"
"Coral Rays was a wonderful villa. It sits high on the Eastern side of Bordeaux Mt. with breathtaking views of Coral Bay, East End, and Tortola. It is located about 25-30 minutes from Cruz Bay using Centerline Road. Turn right onto the second road after Love City Market. This road is paved for about ½ the way, then is loose gravel. You will need to turn left on to a very steep, paved drive that will take you down to Coral Rays. Must have 4-wheel drive!"

Coral Rays was a wonderful villa. Must have 4-wheel drive!
The villa is on 4 levels and has 4 bedrooms/4 bathrooms. The parking deck is the top level with steps down to an outside patio/grill area and entry into main living area. This floor contains the kitchen, dining room, living room, and full bath with outdoor shower. Sliding glass doors lead to a deck. Steps from this deck lead down to two bedrooms with joint bathroom directly underneath the main living area, pool and hot tub are also on this level. More steps then lead from this level down to another building that contains the two master bedrooms – each with their own bathroom (one has an outdoor shower). These lower bedrooms are below tree level and have a view of the landscaped yard. (There are a lot of steps between the lower master bedrooms to the main living area.)
The bedrooms have AC. We ran ours every night to take the humidity out. The main living area did not have AC. We weren’t home much during the day, so we didn’t really miss it. The decks usually had a pretty nice breeze.
We really enjoyed the pool and hot tub! The pool received sun most of the day and stayed warm into the evening. The hot tub was nice for relaxing and watching the lights on Tortola. We could sometimes hear the music drift up from Island Blue’s which added to the nice atmosphere.
The villa’s d飯r was very nice. Nice furnishings. Nice accents. Wonderful lighting that can be dimmed in the main living area.
The villa was well stocked with bath & beach towels and coolers. Also had snorkel gear to use. We only saw two beach chairs, but they were both broken when we were there.
There are a few other villas/private homes in the area, but they don’t compromise the privacy of Coral Rays.
The only reason I didn’t rate Coral Rays “excellent” is because the parking situation wasn’t the best when we stayed there in June of 2005.
We rented Coral Rays through Destination St. John. They were very helpful and would definitely recommend them to anyone. They provided a real nice welcome basket that we enjoyed over the course of our stay.
Happy traveling!

We booked Coral Rays for the later part of this year. We also booked a couple of 4wd's. Not sure when you are going but, we will give a trip report when we get back.
