Villa w/Air Conditioning & Pool $1200-1800

I am posting this again with more information so that forum members can better help us. We are from the South and have to have air conditioning (prefer it in all rooms, but may have to accept bedrooms only). Would love to have a small pool if possible. Location and view are not extremely important. "Somewhat Basic Accodations" are fine. We like all areas of St John. Will consider St Thomas if it has better accomodations in our price range.
We are flexible with dates, but it would be in low season. Thanks for your help...

There are so many that would fit the bill. It will just take some looking.
Here is the list of villa companies from this site:
http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/sj/sjv.shtml

Just start clicking and seatching. It can be a daunting process, but once you narrow it down to a few, we can help with any that we may have stayed in.

You also do not indicate how many bedrooms you need.

A tad more expensive if it's for six people, but if it's for less, it might fit your budget.

Sundance Villa on www.cloud9villas.com

3 bedrooms, pool, a/c throughout.

Wow, great list and Angelica looks GREAT :)

I looked at the websites of all of the ones listed and personally the first two look the best although the first one I believe does not have a/c yet and they state that when it does the price will go up - but maybe it does have it and the prices shown are the new increased prices (villa rental management companies are not always on the ball with keeping photos (almost never get updated) and info current on the web page)

I have seen many villas in person (not those listed) and I am almost always amazed at how the photos on the web of some of the "older" homes (read alittle tired looking) are even more "tired" in person - just something to keep in mind as you can usually figure out which ones are in need of some TLC by the photos - so if the photos of villas make the villa look "worn but cozy" they usually (not always) are even more "worn" in person.

Hope this doesn't offend anyone - but hey - there you go :D

Hey Pia,

The top line of the site for Island Time (the pink bar) says a/c, so it definitely bears checking.
I agree with you about the "tired" and "tired-er" thing. I can handle a little tired if the price is right and the other amenities make up for it like the view, the pool, etc., but that's assuming it's maintained well.
All of the villas I posted are less expensive places I've noticed that seem to have things going for them to offset the "not fancy" or "tired" thing, but I have not seen them in person.
If any of them seem to fit what someone is looking for, they should then start the research process of grilling the rental company, asking questions, asking for additional photos if available, looking for anyone who's stayed there before, reviews, etc.
I don't mean to imply that I've vetted them and have determined they're a good choice.
Thanks, Pia. I know you didn't say this, but when I read your post I realized that I might have given that impression without meaning to.
Happy Hunting, Everybody. :)

Take a look at this Cottage...

It's also listed on www.carefreegetaways/blue_aweigh.html

I have never stayed here or seen other reviews on this place but I am considering staying here at a future date.
Good Luck

The Carefree Getaways link won't work but if you just type it in it'll take you to the website.

Hey 2catlimit

I thought your list was great - you really found some wonderfully priced villas - I really didn't mean anything negative to be directed at you at all.

Maybe I should have started a thread about villa pictures being misleading it just seemed a good thread to add my .02 on things I see in some villas  where I then go home and look on line and if I close my eyes and blur my vision I guess I could see how it could "kind of" look like that picture

Hey Pia,
No worries. I didn't think that at all. I just realized I may have inavderently given that impression.
And I know what you mean about those pictures. I scour for any new pics I can find, ask about the furniture, ask is anything different now than in the photos, etc.
They get sick of me, I'm sure, but better safe, you know. 8)

Just FYI, I saw Dream Catcher on the list. The rental agent (not too friendly) told me this home is really run down and in need of several repairs, but the owner is not willing to have the work done. She suggested some other villas, but I didnt like her "tude" so I went elsewhere
As for old pictures, ain't that the truth! I started asking how old the photos were and if they had recent ones, or if any major furnishings were different that that pictured. Our last rental had different LR furnishings that were not so great. We were looking forward to the huge sectional, but found two small rickety wicker like couches instead.
