Any construction near Sago Palms (Denis Bay Estate area)?

I realize Sago Palms is usually not available, but we happen to get the week we wanted! Just curious about the house next door. I believe it was a former rental named Solenus. Must be lived in by owners or is it still being renovated? Any other construction nearby above Denis Bay, Jumbie, Hawksnest? I know Hawksville is completed. Just curious. Won't be there until summer 2008, so of course things might change. But, I don't think there's much available land (landlocked by national park land) left to build in that area is there? This will be our 3rd trip to St. John. Been to Kauai twice since then and sure miss the white powder sands of St. John. Although, we love the trails, gardens and waterfalls in Kauai. Love both islands for different reasons.

Some folks who had rented Sago in the past reported construction activity earlier this year that they hear when they were on Denis Bay. We would have liked to rent Sago two weeks from now,as it is available. When we spoke to the rental agent she said there has not been anything going on with the construction for some time, and she believed the project may have been abandoned.
We opted not to rent Sago Palms for this trip, but for reasons other than the construction. However, I think I would prefer the construction being active rather than have a large but abandoned construction site adjacent to a villa that is so far off the beaten path. Maybe they will begin working again on it and I would check again closer to your time of travel. I understand the villa and the views are drop dead gorgeous. I hope it will be available for one of our future trips.

Thank you for your answer! I guess I shouldn't worry so much since it obviously hasn't been much of a problem as can be told from the lack of available rental time for this place. It's always booked, so I guess that's a good sign that people are happy. If anyone else has information about it let me know. I wonder if a third house was being built there and then discontinued?

We stayed at Sago in 2006 with another couple. At the time there was no construction going on in the villa next door, we went over and checked it out ourselves. It did look abandoned at the time.
We were back this June and while on Denis Bay, there is no doubt in my mind that they were working on the villa next door at that very moment. For one we could hear it, and two we got a new camera that has a more powerful optical zoom so we were able to see it as well. And they have clearly added on to the structure that we saw last year. What they are doing at this moment, I couldn't say. I think work can start or stop at any moment for any number of reasons.
In terms of access, it is from Centerline Road, right past the medical center. Not quite a mile dirt road, no lights.
Villas nearby, the abandoned/worked on one next door (you pass that as you drive to Sago) and the only other villa I know of is Hawksview Estate below, and that is accessed via the NorthShore Road.
It is an incredible location, and yes, availibility seems to be slim. I think they give existing renters first preference on the same week for the following year, so maybe they get a lot of repeaters?
We loved it and hope to stay there again some day.
