I don't have first hand experience right by Great Cruz Bay, but a couple of affordable options I liked are: in Chocolate Hole - Tesseract, in Hart Bay (walk to beach)there's Poinciana, and finally, with drop-dead views of Reef Bay there's Soft Winds.

Have fun planning!!

Hi, we just stayed at Villa Sea View in Chocolate Hole. You can walk to the Westin, but the hill is quite steep. The lower level of this Villa has two nice sized bedrooms and a full bath and its own little shady patio. The upper level has two more large bedrooms and 2 full baths. We booked thru seaviewhomes.com. They came thru on everything they promised except the welcome basket. Instead we got a bag of chips and a jar of salsa. Nothing to drink. Other than that, NO complaints what so ever. For such a large house the price is great.

We are staying at Sundance in August.

www.cloud9villas.com

Three king bedrooms, all a/c, three bathrooms. Says 1.5 miles from Cruz Bay, able to walk to Hart Bay. I'll be doing a full review when I get back. The price is definitey right for off season!

We stayed in Villa Capiz by www.carefreegetaways.com in May and absolutely loved it. It's up on Gift Hill though.

Happy villa hunting! I love that part!

We rented Idyllic for some of the younger crowd that was attending our wedding. They were able to walk to the Westin every day and one of the guys rented a boat for a few days and walked over there to pick it up. We stayed there for a few days too and liked the pool area as being separate from the house and having its own cabana.
The additional advantage of being near the Westin is that they can always safely take a cab from any of the places in Cruz Bay like Woodies or the Beach Bar and then they could easily walk home.
If you are on a budget you could look at Tennis COTTAGE rather then rent the bigger Tennis Villa. They put a pool in at Tennis Cottage so you have a pool and jacuzzi there for a pretty fair price.
Villa Villekula is also very convenient to the Westin and they could take the kyacks over during the day.
Someone else just recommended Bouganvilla through Donald Schell as a good house if the kids dont need luxury bedrooms.
