Spoiled in St John

Just got back from another week in SJ.We stayed at Indigo Villa.I didn't notice when I booked it that it was completely AC'd.
WOW
Never experienced anything as wonderful as that.No sweating cooking at night, fixing coffee in the morning was an enjoyable task, laying on the sofa watching TV and almost wanting a blanket. All new experiences for me.
Now the problem is how can we go back to a normal villa w/o AC.Some of our favorite places are up in Catherineberg with no AC.Should we just slip over to the Dark Side and be spoiled tourist on SJ and stay at total AC villas or continue our tree hugging purist attitudes and experience SJ as it is meant to be.Or do you even care?
Never Mind
Just ramblings of a totally depressed individual who realizes that it will be at least 10 months before he can even think about laying on Frances Beach again.
P.S. Indigo Villa was a wonderful place to stay and I would highly recommend it.We have never stayed on that side of the island before in amongst all the other villas but it was really neat.

We got spoiled to full ac years ago and we won't go back. The north shore higher up is doable, but that west side gets HOT, even in the winter.

I think Indigo looks awesome. I'm glad to hear you loved it. That might be our next villa when I take the family back.

Hey Mike----We booked Indigo Villa for next Spring Break. Since its brand new and there have been no reviews, I was excited to see your post. Any more details? How was the pool? Bedrooms? Did you use the rooftop deck? Pictures? Glad you had a nice trip. Thanks much.

Good choice iowaguy,

All in all the villa is great. The furniture in the icy cool greatroom are some of the most comfortable I've ever sat in.Although I don't watch much TV the kids enjoyed the flat panel tv in real comfort.I did however use that couch to do alot of reading.
The kitchen was great but could use coffee mugs. They just had some small cups which required to much walking back and forth.
The 2 bedrooms under the great room are a little on the small size but were fine for our kids. The 2 bedrooms in the castle wing are very nice with plenty of storage. However all 4 bathrooms while nice were small and very little countertop space which did not go over to well with my makeup hording wife and three daughters.I found them okay but would have liked a garden shower with view.
All the railing, absent in the pictures, are now in place. The observation deck is awesome. You can see all the way down to Ramshead and over to the end of ST with a great view of the sunset.Sitting up there at nite with a win blowing was perfect. There is even a wet bar up there with a small fridge.Great seating for plenty of people.
However for me the best part was the wrap around veranda which was great for reading and napping. The house is situated noth to south so the breezes coming across the veranda were great and usually kept it very pleasant during the afternoon. The pool location was perfect and ample size. The fountain made a refreshing sound and the water temp stayed very comfortable.
There was one villa being built below but the noise was hardly heard.I imagine by next year the walls will be up so it shouldn't be a problem.
As far as pictures,I'll check with my kids,I don't even take a camera anymore.I'll probably regret that one day but we have years of pictures of SJ and I just don't want the hassle anymore.
As much as I love the north shore view and the remoteness of it,I really enjoyed staying at Indigo right in the middle of all those villas.I guess I'm just a voyeur at heart. It wouldn't be hard for me to stay there again next year.
You are gonna love it.
I guess this should have gone in the villa review section but since I don't type this will not be repeated there.I not even going to tell you how long this took to type.Shoulda took typing in school decades ago.

Hey---thanks Mike. I especially appreciate your reply since you're a slow typist like me. I'm excited about Indigo---can't wait for sunset cocktails on the rooftop deck!

I remember walking by typing class in high school years ago laughing at all my friends in there.

Who knew?

Sounds like fun, we'll stop by! I recall you have kids in your group, what ages? My girls are 10 and 16.

The villa seems fabulous, but alas, no hot tub. I'll never get the husband there. You can always copy and paste your post.

Hey Rick G---

Would love to have you over for a sunset cocktail---maybe you can bring some spicy shrimp! My girls are older---20 and 18---but we are going with 2 other families renting nearby houses---they have boys about 16.

Sounds like a dangerous combination. Just 233 days to go!
