OK, so we finally broke down and purchased a new high definition TV, and ditched Comcast for Verizon FIOS, which has resulted in my new addiction to the Discover HD Theater channel...and what is one of first shows I should see in HD, but "Islands for Rent" ...the last two islands featured were Necker (Richard Branson's island) and Guana Islands in the BVI...as I was lamenting the fact that I will never be able to rent those islands all to myself, an idea popped into my head.....why not get all of us obsessed virgin island forumites to pitch in and have our own island for a week!!!??? Any takers?....

While you ponder this, I'll be out buying my lottery tickets....

I'd go to Necker Island in a heartbeat! Does that hottie, Richard Branson, come with the deal? [wink, wink. nudge, nudge.]

For the curious - Guana right now with their "summer special" is $556 a nite and it includes 3 meals a day. Caneel Bay's beachfront rack rate is $550 up to $925 for Cottage 7 and checking the Westin's site for rack rates, they start at $429 to $507, poolside and $709, ooceanfront (but doubt many pay that rate with the packages, and specials) plus a $25 a day "resort fee" - whatever the heck that's for - but those rates are just for one room.
Necker is another story - $322,000 a week and UP - for 10 bedrooms! Not sure that includes the helicopter to get there but the Westin charges $75 for their ferry! <G> But there are other private islands like Little Thatch in the BVI but it sure isn't Necker! I think that there were/are certain weeks set aside where an individual can rent at Necker with others doing the same - like the "hotel" experience and not a "group rental" (there was at one time but it might have been an "exception") and Sir Richard recently bought Moskito Island and is going to put an "eco-friendly" resort there replacing the defunct Drake's Passage.
Happy Magical-Thinking Day for most of us!

Branson is a wanker. He was on Anegada when were there on 2004. He and his entourage left the beach at Loblolly trashed.

Private island? I'm for renting out Neptune's Treasure on Anegada. $105/double room in the winter anyone?

Cheers, RickG

A wanker????? That is so funny!!

I just checked out Neptune's Treasure. I could give up luxury to spend a week with my friends, but I think something between NT and Necker would be more my taste.

I've never been to Anagada, but from the photos, it doesn't seem to have the views that I love so much. What am I missing about Anagada? Alot of people just love it.
